I get soooo tired of listening to the same Christmas songs on the radio. They play the same 20 songs over nad over again. It really doesn't feel special anymore.

I brought out my case of Christmas cd's yesterday and found some of my old favorites that don't get airplay.

Vince Gill-Let There be Peace on Earth. Love this album, especially the last song about his brother who passed away. He is such a crooner.

Elvis Christmas Album-What's not to love about Elvis?

Christmas with the Canadian Brass

Take 6-He is Christmas Really nice acapella, great jazz harmonies.

Larry Carlton Christmas at My House-jazz guitar and some vocals.

What are your favorite off the beaten path Christmas albums?

I love Vince Gill's "Let There Be Peace on Earth". It is my absolute favorite Christmas album! I also like
Judy Collins "Live at the Biltmore".

I, too, wish the local radio station would expand the playlist. They started playing Christmas music on November 2nd and play the same songs over and over. It is tiresome.

Obscure enough that probably nobody else has ever heard it. It's a collection of original songs and quirky renditions of classic carols produced at churches in a really diverse group of countries; the music reflects each of their ethnic cultures. It's honestly one of my most prized possessions and listening to it is a real "joy spot" in my Christmas season. It's out of print now; if anything happened to my copy I'd actually have to learn how to download music and use an MP3 player :rotfl2:. Merry Christmas everybody!

One of my favourites is a compilation from a check out line at Safeway LOL.

Peter Paul and Mary - I think it's "A Holiday Tradition" or something.

Rita MacNeil - I miss her Christmas specials

I have two Celtic Christmas/instrumental

Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Mannheim Steamroller

Up With People (yes, I've had some of my discs for awhile)

Does Chris Tomlin have one? Paul Baloche or Lincoln Brewster? I think I might like it. I know I can google but I'm on my way to work.

Always wish Great Big Sea had done one.

Josh Groban

Boney M

Time Life Christmas compilations.
Streisand' s first Christmas album
Carpenters Christmas
Rudolph soundtrack

Bing Crosby. White Christmas. I never get tired of it.

Carpenters Christmas is a close second.

Annie Lennox
Straight No Chaser
Of course the Carpenters
Nat King Cole
Bette Midler

I usually try to get a new one each year but haven't found anything yet so thanks for this list !

Mine are;

Straight No Chaser - Christmas Cheer
Michael Buble
Josh Groban
Charlie Brown Chrstmas album
Glee Christmas
Barbra Streisand albums...both
Sarah Mc Lachlan- Wintersong

I have several.
My new favorite is Kelly Clarksons Wrapped in Red. Seth MacFarlanes is fabulous also.
My older favorites, SheDaisy Brand New year, Carney and Wendy Wilson Hey Santa, and Harry Connick Jr's When My Heart Finds Christmas.
The first Glee Christmas Album and most of the 2nd are also really good. And you can't go wrong with Michael Buble.

I was going to say Kelly Clarkson's Wrapped in Red also. I'm not usually a fan of "new" Christmas music, and especially new Christmas songs, but I LOVE that album. A good mix of traditional songs and new songs, and the new songs are really good.

Totally agree!! Underneath The Tree is my new favorite song!!!

My favorite goes back to my childhood, which nobody will have heard of, "Hi-Fi Christmas Party" by Domenico Savino and his Orchesta. It's kinda like The Boston Pops.

Other favs-
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Johnny Mathis Merry Christmas
John Denver and the Muppets, A Christmas Together
Seth McFarland Holiday for Swing

Try "A Winter Garden" by Loreena McKinnitt, but I understand it's been expanded to a larger album called "A Midwinter Night's Dream." I was checking the exact name of the album and found the newer version, and I think we'll be getting it.

Another vote for Trans Siberian Orchestra!

Also, I love Jewel's Joy - A Holiday Collection. She has such a wonderful voice! :santa:
