Hi Everyone!

I think there has been a thread like this before, but I want to start a new one. I'm trying to hold out til I can return home in 2006!

So, what is everyone's most memorable/favorite character moment?

On my honeymoon last June, I decided that I don't care how old I am (24) I was going to get as many pics with characters for my scrapbook as I could. I got all the favs (except Donald, just couldn't find him anywhere). plus I also got Launch Pad  (I swear I almost died when I saw him! Duck Tales Whoo-oo!) My three favs (besides Launch Pad) were when
1. Chip and Dale started walking away with me to steal my from my new DH, and then they started fighting with each other over me when they realised they'd have to share. I was crying from laughing so hard.
2. Mr. Smee tried to kidnap me and his CM said "Well, he is a pirate!" pirate:
3. (which is really #1) I've heard that there are those who've had bad experiences with this particular character, but not me!
At AK King Louis grabbed my leg and tried to pull me down while Baloo tried to stop him. When the picture was taken he just wouldn't let go. The next family in line was walking over and my DH had to "claim me" before he would let go. While I was in line he stole some hats from kids and made them chase him. He also held the teeny tiniest baby in his furry arms. It was so awesome!

You're never too old for characters! :earsboy:

Aww I'm going to bump this because I love hearing these stories and I'll share mine!

Last summer my sister and I were in MK and decided to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. So we're just walking around Adventureland and all of a sudden I feel this hand on my shoulder! And it wasn't my sister because it was on the opposite side that she was on. I looked and it was Jafar! He had his arm around me and escourted me all the way to Pirates of the Caribbean. Definately a cute and funny moment.

Great thread! In 2001 one of the Jungle Book bear characters took my 7 month old son in his arms and sat on a bench in AK with him. DH and I were photographing it, and I bet people were walking by wondering where that bear got a baby! It's the cutest picture.

Two weeks ago, we were in MK on a very rainy day. We headed to Toontown to get some character pictures. I took DS to get his picture with Mickey, and when it was his turn, he took me by the hand and said: "Mommy, I want you to come with me!" I told him that I couldn't because I had to take his picture. He went to Mickey and I took his picture. Then Mickey came over to me, took my camera from me and handed to the CM motioning for her to take our picture. I had my wet rain poncho on as well as a baseball hat because I hadn't expected to go near Mickey or be in a picture. Byt Mickey insisted so I went and had my picture taken with my son. I look God-awful but it's a treasure nonetheless.

:wizard: I dont know if this would be my favorite character moment, but it is definetly a memorable one. After dinner on pirate night on the Disney Cruise there is a big deck party outside. All the characters and most of the fuests go and dance and all that good stuff. I am 17 and i was with one of the girls who was in my party, she is 10, and we got sperated from our group. We saw them on the other side of the ship and decided to go down the stairs and cross the deck instead of going all the way around our deck. What we didnt know was that the stairs led to the show that was going on for pirate night. Any way after we took one step on the stairs Goofy grabbed my arm and (im sure not on purpose) pulled me all the way back and made me tip and fall on the floor. He then shook his finger at me and shook his head in dissapointment. My friend thought it was the funniest thing she had ever seen, but being beat up by Goofy isnt as fun as it sounds. :sad2:

I have other fun character stories from my cruise but ill save them for later.

We have pics of DD (then about 6 months old) being fed her bottle by Tigger at breakfast at the Councourse Steakhouse when they had a Pooh breakfast.

I also have a pic of DD, about the same age, sitting on Cinderella's lap with a big lipstick kiss on her forehead.

These are the moments.....

My favorite character moment was last year. I celebrated my fourtysomething birthday at Magic Kingdom. It was also a E Night and was such a wonderful day, all the CMs were so nice when they saw my birthday button. We had dinner at Cinderella's castle and it was wonderful, but the highlight was as we were leaving the park at the end of E Night. We had just turned the corner onto Main Street when we saw Mickey and Goofy together. Well, I just had to get my picture made with them. When it was my turn Mickey noticed my birthday button and kissed me, then Goofy did the same. After that Mickey motioned to the CM with them and the next thing I knew the CM was calling people over telling them it was my birthday and Mickey wanted everyone to sing to me. There had to be at least 50 people singing Happy Birthday to me. It's something I never will forget as long as I live!

My two favorites happened the same day within moments of each other at Disneyland. It was our daughter's 8th birthday and she had always wanted to see Sleeping Beauty in her pink dress. We had seen her many times in the blue dress but never the pink. Also, we were probably the only family to keep missing Mickey Mouse himself. So that day of her birthday we walk onto Main Street at opening. There is Mickey Mouse at last! He was pointing to Maria's birthday sticker and hugging her, it was priceless. Then maybe 25 feet from him was Aurora in her pink dress. I kept telling my daughter birthday pixie dust was all over her! I look at those pictures and will never forget her 8th birthday and know she won't either!

Last summer, e-ride night, me, the wife, and both daughters (2&6)
we're heading back to the hotel at about 1:30 a.m., we walked through
the hub and Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale were there for a character
meet and greet, no else was around at all. After the usual picture session,
Chip and Dale and both kids played "freeze tag" around the hub for
about 15 minutes.

:wizard: My favorite memories growing up is my grandma taking me (I was 4) to Mary Poppin's movie, from then on whenever we had an occassion, and found a Mary Poppins, the gift was a given!! Grandma died last year. I went to WDW w/ dd8 hoping to see her at the Princess Norway, but that's ok, its all about DD!! FF to touring the WS, I had my notes, I got our yard of ale, I plopped dh in front of the Beatle band, took dd in to find the passport/kid station, and almost backed in to MARY POPPINS!! I'm telling you, I literally teared up, grabbed dd, and realized dh has camera, run outside, (mellow dh, yard of ale, beatles...hysterical wife enters GIVE ME THE CAMERA QUICK QUICK... yes, dear... *sigh) Luckily there still was NO LINE, dd was still at kid station, now I probably do beg her, Please, Mary Poppins ( prior to DVD release too people!!) please let Mom take your pic... "OK, fine," I really have tears in my eyes, while I take dd picture, I mention to the CM with MP, and I know I tear up again!! Well, now there is this line, but the CM, goes up to Mary, and says, its Mom's turn... and I am all embarrassed, by this time dh comes in to see what's taking us so long (or, translation, the band must've finished playing!! lol) and sees me crying, and sees the line, and after 25 years (and he loved my grandma too!!) quickly sizes up the situation, takes his place with camera in hand... and Mary quietly says to me "Take your time, this is YOUR moment"...

*sigh, I started crying again!!

:wizard:
Thank you Disney, for the magic, it is in the little things, for all of us, it is somthing different...

Oh man eeyore45, that one made me tear up! Lets keep this one going, I love these kind of stories!

I just posted this reply on a thread in the restaurant board, but I'm copying it here because this is (and probably always will be) my very favorite "character moment"...

When my DS was younger (and not allergic to the princesses like he is now), we ate at CRT.

DS was dressed as Buzz, and got lots of attention and kisses from the princesses, but he looooved Mary Poppins! She spend tons of time with him and even sat at our table for a while and carried on a long conversation with him about her movie. She told him that she was the only girl there without a prince, and asked him if he would be her prince, then gave him a big kiss on the cheek which he wore proudly for the rest of the day. The last thing she told him was that she would be looking for "her prince" at the parade that afternoon.

Well, fast forward to the parade. OF COURSE we ended up on the wrong side of the street from Mary and she didn't see him. DS was crushed because he had really come to believe that MP would think that he didn't want to be her prince if she didn't see him at the parade! So later in the parade when the float with Cinderella came by, she saw him and called out "Hi, Jeffrey!" and blew him a kiss. Magical, right? Not to him...he promptly called out "Tell Mary Poppins that I was here!" She never missed a beat and called out "I will!" and he was satisfied with that.

BUT when we got back to our room that night, there was a note from Mary Poppins saying that she was sorry to have missed seeing him in the parade, but Cinderella told her that he was there, and she was glad to know he was still her prince. With the note was a beautiful Mary Poppins pin! Gotta love that Disney Magic! (I'd like to think it was pixie dust, but I'm pretty sure they got our resort from the PS system, and since they had our full names, that's how they got the room number.)

So needless to say, I'll always be a fan of Mary!

I have a few

When my dd was 9 she was big into princesses. Well, we were walking around Morocco and there by herself was Jasmine, she was gorgeous. So we walk around to the entrance and no line!! Jasmine spent 10-15 minutes with dd, just talking to her and asking her about the trip. Well we get ready to take pictures and her necklace falls off so her handler helps her put it back on. Everyone gets set for pictures again and it falls off again. At that point she looks at my dd and says " I must talk to father about getting this fixed." Not missing a beat my dd looks up at her and says "Well Aladdin could steal something better for you" We all just cracked up.

We stand in line at Ariels' grotto and it's the big moment. Now this is dd's favorite princess as they both have red hair. Ariel was sooo sweet really took the time to talk to my dd, even with all those people waiting. So we take pictures and Ariel looks up and notices that my dh is also a red head. She insists that all red heads must get their pictures taken together. My dh is real reluctant to sit next to the lovely mermaid. (I couldn't understand why) But he finally does it and Ariel says they all must point to their hair. I have the greatest picture of one embarrassed husband, one thrilled little girl and a beautiful mermaid all pointing to their hair.

First trip to WDW - we took daughter to MK for a day trip only when she was 2. During this trip, she was terrified of the characters. We did the character dinner at LTT and she would call for Mickey and the other characters to come over, but when they got there, she shied away from them and got all sad and scared.

Fast forward one year: we are taking our first multi-day trip to WDW, but are a little worried because of duaghter's reaction to the charcters the year before. We enter MK and immdeiately see Tigger. We get in line for an autograph, but still aren't sure how daughter will react when it is her turn. Time comes for her turn and she runs to Tigger and gives him a huge hug. It was adorable. It was then we knew the trip would turn out just fine (and, of course, it did!).

Hey, my first post.

My favorite moment was from our first trip in November 2003. My daughter, then 4 years old was dying to meet Cinderella. She had back and foot surgery in 2002 and endured much pain and therapy prior to us going on her "celebration trip". We arrived at MK on Thanksgiving day and went straight to the castle. Chelsea said to a CM " Where is Cindy"? He told us to go to toontown to the big tents. We headed to toontown and got into line. Our group of six was at the head of the line when we were blown away. Here comes Cindy and takes my daughter by the hand and says "come with me sweetie". Needless to say her Mom, Dad(me
) and Nanny were all crying their eyes out, but to Chelsea it was no big deal, she expected to meet her and she was.

One of my favorite character moments happened about 7 years ago. We were in Toontown at the meet/greet area. (was that called Country Fair? can't remember!) There were 3 characters in one room and we moved from one to another and took pictures. We had gotten to the Fairy Godmother and they were going to switch shifts/characters. The Fairy Godmother took my 4 year old daughter backstage and gave her a sheet of Cinderella stickers. We have the cutest picture of the FG with her arm around my daughter. It made my daughter feel very special. Don't you just love these moments??! princess:

Last year I went to a special evening event at the Magic Kingdom entitled "This is Love". An absolutely fantastic evening where the park was closed to the public. There were about 300 attendees. We enjoyed dinner and a scavenger hunt in Fantasyland, where all the rides were open, bands playing, non-stop interaction with the characters, etc. Like I said before, just FANTASTIC!

The evening ended with a special show in front of the castle. We decided to watch the show from the end of Main Street (by Casey's) so that we wouldn't get caught in "the crowd" leaving. So we wound up being the leaders of the exiting pack. As I turn the corner, there lined up in front of City Hall was every Disney character you could possibly think of! There must have been at least 30 characters lined up on the sidewalk. It was an AMAZING sight, and they were all waving and saying goodnight, some calling out your name (knowing you because you joked around with them earlier). It was such a joyful experience and one I will never forget!

On my DS's first trip for his 5th bd in Dec he met Minnie and had to give her a kiss. Then immediately he had to go see Mickey. When he got to Mickey he said, with a very devilish grin, "I just kissed your girlfriend!" Mickey covered his eyes, shook his finger at him, and then put his hands on his hips like he was mad at my DS. My DS couldn't stop giggling. It was so cute.

I LOVE this thread!!!
My favorite moments include:
DD 2 1/2- the look on her face at CRT breakfast when she saw the princesses, and then when she knocked Cinderella to her feet and they sat on the floor together and whispered for 5 minutes- priceless
DS 2 1/2- the awe on his face when he met Buzz the first morning there- and sweetly looked up and said "Hey Buzz!"
DD 6 months- Tigger at CP took her and sat on the floor and played and played with her- even after the cm with him said he needed to move on- he shoo-ed her away
DD 5- CRT breakfast again- whispering to Aurora she liked her dress- she whispered b/c she is bashful, but she LOVES pink dresses
DS3- saying 'YeeHaw Cowboy' to Woody and 'To infinity and beyond' to Buzz at Al's Toy Barn- his two heros
DS4- at Crystal Palace again- DH teases DS about Tigger- saying 'my Tigger' and they go back and forth. So Tigger comes to our table, the kids bounce with him and get pictures when DS realizes that DH hasn't hugged Tigger. He says 'Daddy come give Tigger a hug'- well Dad is behind the video camera. So DS says 'DADDY, This is Tigger'- like an introduction- to which Tigger gave DH a hug and they all bounced again.
DD 4- Jasmine is DD's all time favorite princess. We had seen her twice already during our trip and we found her again- but the line was forever long so we convinced DD to let others have a turn. We were waiting on someone in our party to go to the bathroom when Jasmine and Genie were leaving the meet and greet. As Jasmine is skipping by, DD yells hello to her. Jasmine skips right over and plants a kiss on her cheek and calls her princess- made the entire trip for DD- I don't think she'll ever forget it!
There are so many- I love WDW!!!! princess:

Wow, some of these are just amazing!

I've posted mine before, but it's nice to relive them! My friend and I were sitting on the curb in front of the castle, waiting for Spectromagic. We were just watching and cheering when I see Peter Pan come by, and he just came up to me and said, "Thanks so much for visiting us at our home, guys!!" and he gave me a big hug. Doesn't sound like much, but for someone who's never really been into characters, I was stunned and so happy! Now I have a special place in my heart for Peter Pan!
