It seemed that every one that I took a peak in as I walked by was layed out/configured differently.

Do you have a favorite?

8516 with the angeled hallway looked neat!

8516 is a Cat 2....two bedroom suite...and it is nice.

The four mid-ship Cat 3's with the pull-down bed in the living room seem to be everyone's favorite.....allows for more privacy in the bedroom and it seems that the living rooms are a tad larger, as are the verandahs.

We enjoyed 8602, because of the huge verandah....even though there wasn't any shade or privacy, it was still nice. Just not a very big room....

There are a couple of different layouts for the category 3's.

Stateroom #'s 8100, 8600, 8102 & 8602 all have a handicapped setup and sleep only 4 guests.

Stateroom #'s 8532, 8032, 8534 & 8034 are the mid-ship designs. These have a triple length verandah and the pull down murpy bed is located in the living room.

The remaining ten category 3's all have the same design, with a double length verandah and the pull down murphy bed in the master bedroom.

My favorite is anyone of the mid-ships.

On our first cruise we stayed in a Cat 3 Aft. We rebooked on board and the mid ship Cat 3 was recommended - same price - if you can believe it. When we walked into the Cat3 Midship on our second cruise I'll admit was very upset! The difference is HUGE! Huge! It may not look that way in the catalog but it is soooo spacious! Like they said - triple wide verandah - 3 patio doors. Living room is soooo spacious. There is a huge difference in having the bed come out of the wall in the living room instead of the bedroom in the other Cat 3's means it is such a luxury to be able to manuever! The bed pull down in the bedroom means you can't access the patio from the bedroom without jumping over the bed. And it was hard to use the table. We used the table in the mid deck Cat3 constantly. It was so mad that no one explained the difference to me on my first cruise. But it was a wonderful surprise!

Mid-ship Cat.3's are amazing!

If you want to see my pictures, PM your regular e-mail address to me and I'll send you the link to my photo album (AOL is weird -- there's no web address, you can only access it with my link).

Im addicted to cabin 8532.

Been there twice and a third time is coming in Feb06. Soon as Feb 07 opens up... guess what I have a letter in to DCl for?.....

You indicated you were addicted to one of the Category 3's. Just curious since we are thinking about going on our first cruise in 2007 (at a different time so no competition with the room :) ), what is it about that room? Do you like being on one side of the ship more than the others. Having never been on the cruise, I'm not sure, but it seems the same side always faces the port while the other faces out to sea within port in the pictures. Can you request a certain room when you book and get it or don't you know which room you have until much later? Since some of the rooms say they sleep 5, I wondered if the chance of getting one of the mid-ship category 3's depended on how many people were in your party.

Thanks!

Like Bill, we also greatly enjoyed stateroom #8532. I can only speak from my experience on the 4 night cruise. We faced the ocean when we docked at Nassau, which was certainly a better view than overlooking the dock and other cruise ships. At Castaway Cay, we were dockside, but we actually did like that alot because we could see how amazing it was to bring that big ship in and get her secured.

The Category 3's which ony sleep 4 people are handicapped units. I don't think you'd be assigned to one unless there was a need, or it was one of the only units left when you book. As for requesting a specific stateroom, you can definitely do that when you make your reservation either through DCL directly or through your TA. If the rates aren't released yet for your cruise date, you can send a fax to the inventory control department at DCL and have your name put on the category 3 waitlist. You'll be contacted as soon as they open up. Once your booked, you'll know your stateroom assignment immediately for that category. I believe the only ones that have to wait for their room numbers are those that choose to book a "guaranteed" category.
