Cast members are one of the most memorable part of my families trips to DL. They help make the magic happen, don't ya think?

From the the people you first greet at the turn stiles ( I can hear the turnstile music now) to the cast member sweeping up popcorn kernals off the sidewalks. They are amazing people and I wanted to start a thread to honor the wonderful CM's of DL.

Do you have a story of a cast member that somehow made your visit just a little more magical?

I have 2 stories from 2 different trips.

1. In 2005 we took our soon to be adopted son who was 4 to Disneyland....the trip was magical as he was picked for parades, certain characters knew him by name & getting to see a few rarer characters. On our last afternoon, we realized he still had not seen Woody...who was his favorite. We saw on the schedule that he & Jessie would have a meet-n-greet in Frontierland & there was one left. My husband ran him over & waited around. A CM who was sweeping in the area started talking with them & my hubby told him they were waiting for Woody. She said she didn't think they were doing the meet-n-greet since they were needed at DCA for the Block Party Bash parade. Hubby explained about our trip, our sons pending adoption, etc & she excused herself; disappearing behind a CM door. She came back out with Jessie who autographed our son's book. Woody passed by & Jessie could see our son's disappointment. She grabbed his hand & chased after Woody. When they caught up, the escorts cleared everyone away & let our son get a picture with both Woody & Jessie. As soon as my hubby gave them a thumbs up that he got the pic....they were on their way.....leaving behind a large group of people wanting to see them.

It really ended our son's trip on a high note & we were sure to fill out a comment card at City Hall to thank the custodial CM & "Jessie"!!

2. In 2008, we took our soon to be adopted 2 1/2 yr old daughter for her first trip to Disneyland. We were there during spring break & the parks were packed. The only character she really wanted to see was Minnie. We had tried for the first 3 days to see her, but everytime we got in a line for her, she would leave before we got up to her. This happened with many of the character lines we were in. We were starting to get a bit dis-heartened. Our trip in 2005 was so magical, but this one was not flowing & we could see the disappointment on the kids faces. While standing near the flag pole on Main Street, a "Suited" CM came up & started talking with us. He asked where we were from, if we'd been to DL before, etc. He asked if we'd seen the characters we were wanting to see.......I told him that this trip just seemed harder & that we kept missing the characters. He asked my daughter who she wanted to see & we told him that it was Minnie. Minnie was on Main Street at the time but her line was a good 30 people long & we knew she'd leave long before we got up to her. The CM said....did you know that Minnie is a very good friend of mine.....would you like to meet her? Well of course we said yes! He took us right up to her, where my daughter hugged her for a good 2 minutes. It brought tears to my eyes to see the love she had for Minnie. Thanx to this one very kind gesture.....our trip got that Disney magic again & the last 2 days were awesome!! Again, we filled out a comment card at City Hall........we think it's very important to recognize the CM's that go the extra mile to ensure you leave DL with a huge smile!!

I have a few and although they may not seem like much to anyone else they meant a lot to us. The first was in 2003 before our sons sixth birthday and we were doing the park attack first and ask questions later mode. We were at the park one night after a long day in the park and he had a meltdown. We were sitting out in the front area right after you get in the park and amazingly it was empty. Loren was sitting on the planter crying about everything he could think of. Minnie and Mickey came into the area, when Minnie saw how miserable he was she stopped and dried his tears and kissed him on top of his head. His tears dried and his mood improved tremendously with that little bit of attention from Minnie.

And then in 2007 I was extremely ill and I had planned the trip for the family wanting the kids to have a great trip. The severity of how sick I was varied and I was at my worst on the trip down, when we got to the DLH I was horribly ill. We were really early for check in, but the desk clerk got me into a room immediately. He shuffled things around, I thought he was amazing. The next morning my DH went to put his laptop in the safe and he was on duty again. He made a point of coming over and asking how I was and to see if they could do anything to make my stay better.

Also on the same trip my niece Stephanie had bought herself a Princess mouse ears and the crown had broken off. She went to the desk and the desk staff went through drawers and searched to find glue to fix the crown on her her ears and fixed them for her. To me the simple kindness of something like that is special.

My funniest story is when I went to buy my 2-day PH tix. The CM would not stop raving about the World of Color.

The funniest thing she said was:
"WORLD OF COLOR IS LIKE THE BELLAGIO (the hotel fountain in Vegas) ON STEROIDS!!!"

I was laughing hysterically. I didn't know steroids was an appropriate word. Either way, I loved her and gave her a hug through the glass!

I'm loving the stories DIS'ers, keep them coming!!!!

Here's one (of many) I have:
Albert-that's the gentlemen's name although, can't remember where he is from. He works at the Emporium on Main Street and we were there making our purchase of t-shirts and trading pins. While he was scanning my purchases, there was a woman behind me in line. She was, to say the least, impatient. Huffing and puffing and making a few comments I dont' care to repeat. Albert was more than a Disney castmember he was a true gentleman. He continued to treat me and my presence as a customer as a priority one and looked up and smiled at her. When it was her turn he also treated her with repect and Disney charm. Even though she walked up with a grumpy attitude she certainly walked away with smile on her face. I think Albert had something to do with that. Cast members like Albert makes people feel special. I still go in everytime we visit and say hi and he stills remembers me and my family. Even comments on how big my kids are getting. Can't wait to say "hi" at the end of the month.

Nothing overly special, but very magical to us. On our trip this past November I was on a mission to meet all the Princesses, which has us going through PFF quite a few times. The first time, Ariel was there. We talked to her a bit, told her our names and where we from, etc. This was on our first day in the park. Two or three days later we were going through and she was there again. She remembered us! Remembered where we from, why we were there, and which day she had met us before.

It really blew us away and was a bit of extra magic. How many people must she meet everyday, and she remembered us?! Not to mention, we looked quite a bit different the 2nd time around, as the first was literally the first thing we did after we got out of the car after driving from Tucson, so we were beat up, tired, wrinkly, etc. The 2nd time we we clean, energetic, and had brushed hair, lol.

Albert is the kind of CM that makes Disneyland special to us guests. To be made to feel like you are the most important guest he has had all day.

Can you believe how grown up our kids are now? I bet Cass would love that story about Loren. :)

We had quite a few great interactions with amazing CM's, too many to list really. :) But there was always someone who made us feel amazingly special. :) I  the CMs at DLR/DCA!!

I loved your stories, and they both me tear up too. I like to fill those comment cards out as well. I think it's important to let the CM's know that they are appreciated!

Awesome!!!! Besides the CM's it sounds like your 2007 trip had some other memories too. Glad to see that a CM tried to make you feel a little a little bit better.

Steriods!!!:rotfl2: how true how true

I often wonder how they pick the CMs. How do you know who will have that attitude? Or that gift?

I had thought about that when I told that story. Oh boy I bet he will be real happy with me.:rolleyes1

I think that the CMs have so much to do with how your trip is.

Well I don't have to show her.......:lmao:

It's not the first time I've told the story and well, it won't be the last. His picture on fb is him with the teddy bear they gave him before surgery. I think he would survive.:rotfl:

That...my dear...is what makes Disneyland, Disneyland. The magical moments that make us tear up.

OK, Tiki Room....Maynard. Our family lovingly call this CM Maynard the Tiki guy. He's the one that does the intro for the Tiki Room show and has that very distinct voice. If you haven't heard him, make the trip to. He's phenominal!!! "No ringy ringy" This was something (along with many other things) to tell people to turn their cell phones off. He would also stand outside the gate and *motion* people to come to "his" show like a "barker" from a carnival. His one of the many classic CM's that make our family trips magical.
