Favorite "Cash Back" Credit Card?

I have officially switched from the Disney card to the Citibank Platinum one. Since October's trip to DW where I charged most everything to my Disney card and the holidays when I spent more than usual I have accumulated almost $40 in rewards. Not bad, better than nothing BUT when I got my bill for my Citibank card (only been using it for about 6 weeks and not exclusively) I already have over $40 in rewards. I charged $780 this month and got $35.58 in rewards. No two month waiting period, gave me the 5% on all my charges (as best as I can figure) and no $150 or much more deduction before the points start. I will easily earn at least one AP before our November trip at this rate. I think I can only get $300 from this card but I will use what little I get from the Disney card too.

Thank you so very much to those of you who told me of this deal.

"I use my Citibank card for food, drugs and gas (5%) and my Disney card for everything else (double points)."

You might want to read the fine print on those double points. I was all excited when they said I'd get double points on certain purchases from 7/1/04 through 7/1/05 (I think those were the dates), until I found out the "double points" don't kick in until you spend a certain amount that month, and the amount was substantial (? 1,000-2,000). The "bonus" points finally showed up on my September bill, and haven't really thrilled me. :sad2:

By the way, do they have Meijers stores in Indiana? If so, do they count as a supermarket for the 5%, or no because they sell more than just food?~:p~

SuzyQue, I was told that if I check out on the grocery side of my Super Wal Mart (I also put my food purchases on the belt first) that the whole amount would earn the 5% refund and it has been so,so far. I would imagine the same would be true of the Meijers stores. We do have them here but I have not been in awhile.

I get double points with my Disney card after only $150 but have come to the conclusion that using the Citibank card for everything is better because I get my rewards from day one and get double warranty on my electronic purchases and such.

The Interenet is a wonderful resource. Knowledge is power and everyone has some knowledge to impart.

For anybody thinking about getting a Citi Dividend card, they are now running a special where you get 7% instead of the 5% at supermarkets for the first 3 months. You still get the 5% at gas stations & drug stores, with 1% everywhere else. If anyone is interested, PM or email me and I will give you the phone number.~:p~

Just wondering how they can afford to do this? Do ya think they might be trying to lure those of us who pay our bills on time into spending more and not being able to do so? (sort of kidding) I know a very long time ago I used to be able to get a discount for paying cash cause the stores had to pay the card company about 6%.

Figures, I get my card a few weeks to early to qualify for the bigger rewards but at least mine are good for about another year so that is something. If they ever do away with this promotion I will come here and let one of you saavy people tell me where to go next. (careful there people, this is a Disney site) ROTF

I have the CitiDividend Card (plus Disney -- ick) and I LOVE it! Like you all, am really seeing the returns adding up, but am surprised that I may actually hit the $300 max. reward. So now, I too am wondering if I can get a 2nd card -- 1st one does have me as primary with hubby as secondary.

Anyone manage to get 2 cards?

Also, SuzyQue -- would love to find out about the 7%. How do I PM or e-mail you???

"Anyone manage to get 2 cards?"
My DH and I applied at the same time, I am secondary on his account and he is secondary on mine. I received my account card along with a card in his name, and he received his account card, along with a card in my name. Since I do the grocery shopping, I have a feeling I'm gonna hit the $300 dollar mark first, so then I'll just use my copy of the card from his account, and help him hit the limit too.~:p~
