So I'm killing time here at IHOP while we are waiting for our table. So let me ask, what's your favorite breakfast chain?

Poll coming.

I'm not into the chains. Here in NJ we have so many mom and pop diners I don't know how ihop, dennys and the like stay in business.

This is so true-nothing like a diner for breakfast!

Having said that, I chose IHOP because when I lived in Philly I went to the one in my neighborhood most mornings. It got so they greeted me by name.

We travel south several times a year and we eat at Waffle House. They don't have them in Michigan. Always an easy stop right off the highway and the food is fresh and consistently good.

At home we have 3 family owned restaurants that we frequent for breakfast. Never go to the chains here.

I went with other. Chic Fil A is about the only place I will eat breakfast out at that is a chain.

I like diner breakfasts. I guess it's the area I live in, we're surrounded by diners. You just get so many choices and the food is always fresh hot and delicious.

A while back we traveled to KY three years in a row with a group. We stopped at a Shoney's each year on the way and we liked it a lot. Maybe we were just really hungry, but it was really good.

Denny's, with Perkins a close second. Never heard of Biscuitville. We don't have Shoney's here anymore, or that would have been my choice.

I would LOVE a good Long Island diner breakfast again. Since moving to NC 11 years ago, finding good eats isn't as easy as it was back there. There's a great little breakfast joint in Winston-Salem, NC that we hit every so often. Breakfast of Course. Tasty (a bit pretentious...and tree huggy...but tasty).

Waffle House's give me the willies. Haven't been in one that wasn't so greasy that I needed a shower afterwards.

IHOP is okay but I don't like that they add pancake batter to the eggs. Makes them spongy and weird.

We have a places around here called First Watch. It's fabulous! They are only open for Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch. There is always a wait but very worth it!

I can count on one hand the number of times I have eaten breakfast at a restaurant in the 17 years me and DH have lived together. It's just not something we do. I would rather cook myself and relax in my pajamas that get ready and go out to eat.

When we travel we either eat the free hotel breakfast or bring something along to snack on like fruit and breakfast bar ect. Once we stayed at a hotel that gave free breakfast vouchers for the Denny's next door. It was so bad we didn't go back after the first day to claim our "free" breakfast. It was terrible and really greasy.

Oh and I am pretty cheap and don't want to waste money on a breakfast out. When traveling it's typical for us to eat the free hotel breakfast, snack on our own snacks in the afternoon and than go out for dinner. It's rare that we actually pay for more than one meal a day.

Recently we were driving toward the Tampa area and I noticed one of these along the highway, I don't know if it was just built or I was just noticing, but it was the first time I'd heard of the place and I said to DH "FirstWatch...cafe? Really? It sounds like a bank!" I had no idea they were a chain. But I looked at their menu because of your comment, and wow, they have a healthy options! You've inspired me to check them out! :thumbsup2

As for my current favorite...probably Bob Evans because of their Fit from the Farm menu.

I picked I-hop from the pole but I have to agree with other posts, I prefer mom and pop places to eat for any meal.

I chose Cracker Barrel. They have the BEST pancakes. Can't stand IHOP. In my opinion, their pancakes aren't anything like they used to be 10-15 years ago.
