Well, I prefer names that are clearly male or female, which can be hard to find these days! I'll never forget the year I taught a Taylor boy and Taylor girl. They were mortified that the other sex had their name. Kids with weird names do still get teased a lot also. JMO.
I also like family names or names from your family's country of origin as middle names. I know this is silly, but I always looked up what my child's name meant, as DD had a friend who was named Rhiannon and was so upset when she found out it meant witch!
Make sure the initials don't spell anything you don't want. My nephew's are B.A.D. and he sure turned out that way. Could not believe my sister did that!
Being an Elizabeth whose parents called me Beth, I also made sure my kids' names would not normally be shorten, especially to a name beginning with another letter of the alphabet. It's been a NIGHTMARE if many situations when being looked up on some computer's files. UGH!
So, My kids are Melissa Marie Rhett Roberts and Kevin Raleigh
Rhett has always been my favorite boy name. I wanted to call Melissa
Joya Elizabeth, but dad talked me out of it. I regret it to this day.
Good luck! I wish I was doing the same thing!
