Favorite and Not Favorite Favors

My least favorite was a scratch-off lottery ticket, but in the bride and groom's defense, they had a Vegas themed wedding, so just about everything had to do with gambling. Maybe I didn't like it because I didn't win anything.:)

My favorite was a small crystal piggy bank with a new penny in it. It came with a sweet poem that said to put a new penny in it every year on the date of the wedding as a good luck charm for prosperity.

We gave Lenox champagne flutes with the words "love is all" inscribed going around it.

My favourite favours were at my cousin's wedding, she had rock candy with her and her husbands names in the middle, and it was delicious!

My least favourite was... well I don't even know what it was, it was a red thing in a box, it may have been a biscuit with a red coating, or it may have been a paperweight... :lmao: I really don't know, and no one else at our table knew what they were either, so we all just sort of left them there, and looking around we weren't the only table to do that :confused3

It was actually at that wedding that DF and I decided not to do favours, we've been to too many weddings where they are just left behind by the guests, so it's something I don't think anyone will miss.

This is what we did as well, except with our names ;)

Everyone loved them.

They tasted great, too. We did a cherry and lime combination flavor and had them packaged in cute bags.

My friend's wedding had a photobooth and her favor was a frame for your photostrip. I liked that because I could use it. I like candles and food items because most people use them. I have some unusual trinkets that serve no practical purpose and those are the favors I liked least, but I appreciate all the favors I've received because it is a little gift saying they appreciated everyone coming to celebrate!

Where did you get these from? I love this idea - I think I like it even better than custom M&Ms (which I have been kind of obsessed with)!

I have only ever gotten edible stuff as favours for some reason!

My favourite were these little chocolate hearts (chocolate - always a good bet!)

Worst were sugared almonds (or jordan almonds in the US?) - I always think I'm gonna break my teeth on them!

For our favours, we decided that we would make a donation to Bowel Cancer UK - my awesome granddad passed away from Bowel Cancer in March 2008 and we wanted to remember him at the wedding somehow, and also do something for a good cause. We bought pins (below) from the charity and have bought little envelopes for them, with a note that we made a donation in their name to the charity.

my favourite favors: anything edible!!!! i love snacking during weddings with long speeches!

least favourite: i went to wedding recently where the couple got married on on island with only immidiate family and for their at-home reception they gave a dvd copy of their ceremony...its okay but i dont think i will watch their wedding ceremony ever since i barely know them!

for my wedding my df and i are giving a favor that displays both of our interests! he has been in love with jones soda since he was a kid so we are going to give each guest a bottle of either berry lemonade (light blue), cream soda (clear), or green apple since those are our wedding colours! and to represent my interest we are making a donation to a charity i volunteered for throughout university-its called shinerama and raises money for cystic fibrosis!

DaisyGirl902, they are from Papabubble in New York City. I live about 15-20 mins away and was able to stop in and taste all kinds of flavors and pick out colors, etc. but you can call and ask about mail order too. I'll look for the number if you are interested. They were featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, which is where I heard about them.

Bumping again.... great ideas and can see where some arent that great.

I think the worst was matches. I know that these were popular back in the day, but we got them at a wedding recently, and ewww...

I also hate useless trinkets. Cute bells, candles, random little pictures. They look good on the table, but not in my house.

My favorite is food. I love all food though, so I'm partial. :rotfl2:

But all the chocolate mickeys and treats are yummy! For our VR we made chocolate castle lollipops for ours.

We had a candy buffet, and also gave everyone a CD with all our our music on it. It was all Disney stuff. Our bags had the "I'm celebrating" buttons on them that we collected from our Disney trips.

To this day, I still have people asking me if we have any CD's left. Friends of friends want a copy of that disk. LOL! I guess it was a hit.

BTW - I love the handmade mickey photo album. That's awesome!

I work with kids with CF...and I just want to say THANK YOU for choosing this as your favor! Research has brought some many positive changes for these kids that they are now living into adulthood!

:goodvibes

Most of the weddings I have gone to/been in did some sort of candy. My MOH did truffles wrapped in a beautiful box. I have also seen picture table coasters which are cute. I don't like the jordan almonds-they always taste stale to me. I see alot of people have stated they don't like them either.

I did mickey head picture frames since everyone traveled so far, I wanted them to have something they could use and was a little bit more then the usual favors:

Mostly everyone who came to the wedding has put them out in their houses with a picture from their disney trip. I have no pictures of these on the tables from the wedding since I wrapped them all pretty for the wedding, so it was easy for everyone to travel back with them

Being we got married in Disney, we wanted something Mickey Mouse. We thought about doing the mickey egg rings or mickey wine bottle stoppers but decided this was best for us. Hope this helps.

We were at a very casual wedding and they used frisbees to hold the paper plates that people ate off as favors. They had the couple's names and the date on them. My boss also had a casual wedding and had coozie cups made with their names and dates.

Otherwise I also prefer food items, but no Jordan almonds.

Love the candy stick idea. Can't wait to see a picture.

The worst favor I ever saw was betta fish. Who gives a living this as a party favor? It seriously mad me mad- more than half of the fish were killed before the reception even ended as people were pouring booze into the water, swirling the bowls around, and one was ever dropped down an elevator shaft! It was terrible:sad1:

For my wedding we registered with the I Do Foundation and have requested charitable donations to breast cancer research, the World Wildlife Fund, Heifer International, and the Rainforest Alliance. Instead of favors we're giving a donation to Heifer International- they give farm animals to poor families, teach them to care for them and give them all necessary supplies, thus providing a sustainable source of food for the family. My mom HATES the idea- she wants to do personalized candy bars, but I'd much rather feed a starving family or save a few acres of Rainforest.

I have to agree that the fish do sound like a horrible idea... I guess it was something they both enjoyed but didnt think through.

I like the idea of charitable donations amongst a few other things.

Still looking to hear about more ideas and worst seen. I appreciate the input though.

Thanks. I love it. I have a picture of me and DH with Mickey and Minnie from our wedding in the frame in my living room. I got them at the Disney store in NYC. That store has since closed but you should be able to get them at any Disney store or search online.:thumbsup2
