Had a discussion about wedding favors. This is a 3 part question:
  1. What is the best favor you have gotten at a wedding?
  2. What is the least/worst favor you have gotten at a wedding?
  3. What did you use or are you going to use at your wedding?
(If you already had it, what was your guests thoughts?)

Thanks for your comments in advance

We did Mickey rice crispy treats, and Minnie and Mickey signed a photo of themselves for our guests to remember the special time they spent together at our wedding. :lovestruc

Everyone loved the favors, but then again our whole group is in love with the Mickey rice crispy treats!!!

Oh and these were our favors for our home reception/picnic:

The funny thing about this is most of our friends have them on display in their houses :-)

I LOVE the signed pictures!! How did you get that?

I asked my planner about it, I was looking to bring my own pictures, but was having a hard time finding them, so I asked if she could find me one and that is what she came up with. I loved it, and my guests loved it too. Especally the kids.

I really dislike jordan almonds wrapped in tulle or lace. Luckily, I haven't been to too many weddings lately where that was the favor. One of my girlfriend's husbands made a CD for all the guests with music they liked, which I thought was neat at the time. For our wedding, I was initially planning to use these as placecard holders and favors
http://www.favorsbyimpressions.com/coach-place-card-frames.htm
but I decided to use them as the table name cards instead, and people could take them if they wanted. We ended up making donations to a couple of charities near & dear to us, and I made a bookmark (with my super stamping and scrapbooking skills :rotfl:) that was placed on the tables that said "in lieu of a traditional favor, we made donations....etc and thanks for joining us on our special day."
Another friend did the same thing, except she made cards for the table saying that a donation was made. I also got things like votive candles with the couple's name and wedding date, bubbles with ribbon with the couple's info (instead of throwing rice, we were supposed to blow bubbles).

PS- we got a signed pic from Minnie & Mickey at WL, which was where we were staying when we got engaged!

We also got a signed Minnie and Mickey in our hotel room when we got engaged at WDW!

DznyGal: I Love your favors! Sounds like you had a really creative and helpful planner! :) Did she charge you for the Mickey & Minnie photos?

I second the Jordan mints-blech!

I would think one of the worst types of favors to use at a WDW wedding (or any destination wedding, if WDW is considered a destination wedding for you and your guests) would be things that are going to be difficult to transport home. Breakable items, snowglobes (I'm pretty sure the airlines do not let you carry those on anymore :sad2: )

I personally just do not like receiving favors that serve no purpose (little bells, etc...).

WDW will be a destination wedding for us and we have decided to skip the favors and make a donation to a charity in honor of all of our guests. We will have a card at each table or on the place card table (not sure yet) that will describe this!:goodvibes To us, this is a much more useful way to spend the money and our guests will not need to worry about lugging extra stuff home with them.

She did not charge us for the photos, but I must admit we were totally prepared to pay for them.

Also I agree with the no breakable or hard to transport items for destination weddings. That is why we went with food for our second item :rotfl:

Wow, that's really great that you got them no charge!

I agree: Food is always a great favor! Especially, Mickey rice krispy treats!:goodvibes

I should also say we only asked for 16 picture if that matters.:thumbsup2

Did your planner get them signed for you or did you sign them yourselves? We probably wouldn't be able to do this because we are planning on having 85-100 people at our wedding. I really like the chocolate place cards with everyone's names written on it... I think it makes it very personable.

She got them signed for us and they were delivered to Wolfgang Pucks (with the treats) for our reception dinner.

I have to agree with Minniebride- I dont like when you get a favor that you will never be able to use (bells, or very specific things like once I got a tiny candle shaped like a shoe. It was cute, it matched the wedding, but once I got it home, I didn't know what to do with it).

Usually edible favors go over nicely. I had candies in little boxes and these luggage tags.( thought they were cute bc it's a destination wedding)

I'm not too fond of plain bags of candy or food (now if it's an unusual item, that's different). I wasn't at this wedding, but the best favor I've heard of were rubber duckies that were placed around the tables with art pens to be decorated. My friend brought home a small flotilla (really, the main duck was meant to be Admiral Nelson).
I had a silhouette artist come in, so everyone had a "souvenir" of their trip. And it doubled as my guest book, since she cut two of each. I also brought unusual vintage hats for them to wear during their sittings. Every guest had theirs done, and there was always a small crowd around watching!

My favorite favors are edible (or better yet, potable). Unique drinks or candies always seem to go over well. Although the most useful favor I've received at a wedding recently was a little set of appetizer spreaders with seashell handles for a beach themed wedding. A small kitchen item like that could easily be done with a Disney twist.

My least favorite favor? Miniature picture frames. I've been a custom art framer for years and should love them, but I find them useless.

1. Best Favour

I agree with others on here...I love getting food! Especially something "local" (like a local candy store with store made chocolates). DH and I also got champagne flutes as a favour once, so now we have two of them at home that we use a lot.

2. Least/Worst favor

I've haven't had a bad one. I was at a wedding with no favours once, which I thought was odd. I am not traditional at all, but I missed having a candy or something to eat/look at while waiting for food :rotfl:

3. From my wedding

We gave out two, in a sense. We did "welcome bags" for our rehearsal party. We gave everyone some type of glass souvenir from WDW (mostly were wine, beer, shot glasses, with peoples names engraved). For our wedding day, we had chocolate mickey place cards, which had duel purpose.

Here's another opinion! We love Jordan Almonds and used them as our favor for our VR. I put them in a organza bag and a glass slipper. JAs are a family tradition. So, I guess everyone has their own favs. I'm sure you'll choose something wonderful!

We are from PA-a short drive from Ocean City New Jersey {OCNJ}, and my future last name will be Johnson...SOOoooo we decided "Johnson's Popcorn" mini buckets would be perfect for our favors! The little buckets of deliciousness are so adorable...

Plus their popcorn is so yummy! Rich and I always need to get a BIG bucket anytime we venture down to OCNJ! Another bonus...Johnson's Popcorn will ship them directly to Disney!!! :yay:

1. Favorite Favor - Chinese food container full of candy from a candy buffet. Practical, not something I have to store.

2. Least Favorite - Bottle of non-alcoholic champagne I think. I was young, and it was gross and something I just threw out.

3. Mine - I made these photo albums...my guests liked them
