Okay, being the indecisive gal that I am, I need your opinions and quick. I am thinking of rebooking our hotel for August. What's your fave moderate and why? It's just me (17) and my mom. We are somewhat "Disney commandos" as some of you like to put it. We are looking for fast and efficient transportation, a good food court (do not like the Pepper Market thing), and a nice clean room.
We need to call and change this soon !
Thanks !

You won't like my suggestion then. I have 2 teen girls and we love the pepper market. They would say that CSR is their favorite hands down. When we stayed at CBR last time we had to "visit" CSR and their teen cousin loved it too. CSR would be my number one because of the pepper market. And it's so beautiful esp at night. Of course they are BB players not soccer so maybe their views are distorted.

The old Port Orleans (Dixie Landings Riverside or something now) is fun because it is compact and you can take the boat to the marketplace.

The CBR food court was okay, we ate chicken, pizza and sandwiches there

Never stayed at Dixie Landings whatever it is now but the old Dixie Landings but the food court did look good when we visited it. Lots of sandwich and picnic fixings.

Don't think it will matter which one you stay at you and your mom will have a great time. And as commandos you won't be there that much.

CSR has a great hot tub also.

Ooops it's port orleans this and that. I never seem to be PC

Our favorite was the Coronado Springs. We really liked the Pepper Market and the buses never seemed to be crowded when we were there. My DS loved their pool.

We like both PO and DL also but they were not our favorite.

The only Moderate I have stayed at is Caribbean Beach Resort and we loved it!! :) We had a great view of the Epcot fireworks everynight and loved lounging on the hammocks by the lake! :)

Enjoy yourself wherever you stay! :)

We have only stayed at Dixie and Port Orleans-two seperate trips, both before they merged. We really liked Port Orleans (now French Quarter.)better than Dixie/Riverside. The boat to Downtown Disney was nice and the resort wasn't very crowded when we were there. The Food Court was good and the bus stops were convienent. We went over to Dixie/Riverside one morning for breakfast and the place was so crowded we were thanking our lucky stars that we weren't staying there. I have heard some wonderfult hings about Coronado as well. I think we might try that someday. The pool looks great! We are also confused by the whole Peeper Market thing so I will have to do some more research on that. CBR just looks way too huge for us to even try to attempt!

Just my opinion!

Our favorite is the PO-FQ first. We like it because it is compact and easy to get around. Doesn't always seem as crowded as the other moderates probably because it is half the size and less people. The transportation is as good as other moderates with the added plus of having the boat to DTD and Marketplace.

The food court has just been remodeled and from other posts sounds very good. Said there was a spot for ice cream/bakery, another station for salads and sandwiches, another for Italian food, and another for grilled things. Similar to what is at PORiverside (Dixie Landings).

There is only one pool and it is the big theme pool. We enjoy it as there are lots of places to just sit and rest.

Our second favorite would be PO Riverside. It is much larger and has a good food court. Plus there are six quiet pools and a main theme poool. If you do stay there I would recommend that you catch the bus at the first bus stop rather than one of the others at the resort.

We didn't care for the CSR food court, either, so I understand. Another plus of the fQ is that it is a sister resort with Riverside and you can use all the things at that resort, too.

Port Orleans - French Quarter (old port orleans). We keep coming back to this hotel. We love that it is small and easy to get around, one bus stop and it is always the first one picked up and the last one dropped off between the two port orleans hotels (formerly port orleans and dixie landings).

The pool was great and everything was wonderful. We stayed at some of the others just to see and we found them much bigger and more crowded and harder to get around. Port Orleans Riverside (former dixie landings) was nice, but it was a hike from any room to the pool and the restaurant. We tried the bus stop closest to our room and it was skipped by full buses many times - we got quicker service by going to the front bus stop. We also stayed at Coronado Springs and found the same thing.. a beautiful place, but a long walk from just about every room. We have never stayed at the Carribean Beach, but I have heard the same from others - depending on which "island area" your room is in, the food court/buses can be a long ways.

We are going again for xmas time and are definitely staying at port orleans french quarter again.. With the crowds at that time of year, the fact that is it smaller and we know our way around should help us navigate the crowds that much better.

CBR by far and here is why:

the grounds are beautiful and tropical like
the rooms are refurbished and good size
there are things to do there, such as water mice, pontoon boats etc...
romantic setting
a few decent food court resteraunts, like Bridegtown Broiler and one that has pizza and pasta (i forget the name)
the quiet pools are nice and quiet and the main pool is decent as well
transportation was excellent while i stayed there
abundant wild life...ducks, geese, bunnies....they will stay right by you if u have food
decent gift shop
excellent tropical drinks at banana cabana
fireworks from Epcot from beach at OPR

Yes, I love CBR the best

CSR! Pepper Market isn't a normal food court which guests may expect and that's why they don't like it. Better food.

I didn't know that POR is now DLRiverside! Anyway, I'm a Port Orleans (Riverside whatever) fan. I like the size of the resort. You don't have to walk a mile for the pool, food court, transportion, etc. The pool is great! Also the decor and music. Let us know your decision.

My vote, for favorite Moderate, is CRB. We have stayed at both CRB and the old DXL and CRB wins hands down. The grounds, the atmosphere, everything was so wonderful....I really felt as though I were far away on a tropical island.

Another vote for Port Orleans - French Quarter. Nice and small, every room is convenient to everything, no long walks to get anywhere, only one bus stop. The pool is fantastic - if I even suggest that on our next trip we stay somewhere else, my kids throw a fit and DEMAND to stay at Port Orleans again!

Only moderates we've stayed at are CBR and CSR, and our favorite - CBR!!!!! If I remember correctly, this mod has largest of all mod rooms, double bathroom sink, food court is good and quick, lovely grounds, never a problem with the buses. Loved the 'quiet' pools. We didn't like the convention atmosphere we encountered at the CSR. - too many suits. Didn't care for the Pepper Market, AT ALL, not so much the food, but the set up ( I thought food stations were not efficiently set up to serve customers in orderly manner (JMHO), using the ticket punches when getting your food and tip included in your bill). Wherever you choose, you'll have a fantastic time, I'm sure!

Another vote for PO riverside a.k.a...Dixie landings... LOVE it for all of the reasons mentioned above! We love the lush paths & beautiful river all around it!

Add another vote for Port Orleans - French Quarter. We love the PO-FQ because it's quaint, beautiful and you can take the boat to Downtown Disney (which by the way is very relaxing ride) We love the pool and the pool bar (which we spent way too much time at)! Wherever you decide to stay, enjoy you're trip!! Let us know when you get back how you liked where you stayed!!!

Well, we liked both CBR and PO-R, but PO-R has the edge. However, you might like CBR, for the beachy feel, and bright, just remodeled rooms. I have heard that the PO-R needs some renovation, so in that case, I would choose CBR. We have never stayed at CSR (I hear the pool is really cool, but the walk is really long), or PO-FQ, but we are staying there this fall.

Our two favorites have been the Caribbean Beach Resort and Port Orleans - Riverside (back when it was Dixie Landings). The Caribbean Beach had really nice landscaping and it particularly appealed to a member of our party who had a tropical inclination. However, keep in mind that it's a very large resort, and may be somewhat busier (and noiser) than others.

On the other hand, we found the Port Orleans area to be very quiet and relaxing. The colors are decidely more sedate that those of CBR, but the theming in the Alligator Bayou area was great. (I don't know if that area is still called the same thing or not.) One member of our party pointed out that PO-R seemed to have far more "bunnies" than CBR, and this was an important consideration for this person. ;)

PO-FQ because I drive to WDW and I can request bldg 2 and park withing 100 feet of my door. It is also small and at night it makes me wish New Orleans was as safe and pretty as the Disney version.

PO-FQ because of the size and charm. The other moderates are just too big!

I don't like the way they have re-done the food court (I don't like to stand in line to pay with my food-- I prefer to pay first and have them working on my food while I wait), but other than that, the FQ is my hands down favorite! Plus, they have those yummy beignets!
