Kids and wives - what are you getting them?

This is what my DH got from the kids (Pirates of the Caribbean Crocs, so now he and DS have matching ones).

When they came in the mail we couldn't wait and gave them to him early. He liked them enough to take a self portrait of his feet!

(So he's not empty handed next Sunday, we also got him a Wii fishing game.)

Maybe I'll get a Wii with a fishing game for Fathers Day, but I highly doubt it...

Honestly, I don't even know what to ask for. Camera stuff is too expensive and I probably won't be fishing so much this summer. So, I just don't know. Maybe a nice Amazon or B&H gift certificate would be nice.

I'm still waiting for a tripod, monopod, or a gorillapod either will do at this time. I even ranked them in order of preference to make things easier. I realize that I might be wanting alot being that I went behind her back and bought a new lens for my Olympus camera 3 weeks ago. I hate Yahoo instant messenger, you know those email boxes where you forget about all those confirmations on when your lens will be delivered.

I'm hoping for a Canon 400mm f/2.8 lens, although I'd be very disappointed if my wife or kids bought me one.

It wouldn't disappoint me to get that lens, but I would be concerned about where the extra $6800 came from! About 5 minutes after that concern started, I would be over it, I'm sure.

Because they have no independent source of funds. Whike I'd love the lens, I prefer having the money. The moeny will do more for me than the lens.

I am awfully tempted to buy one of the new Sigma super zooms (120 to 400 or 150 to 500) for my summer trip to Yellowstone. Anyone seen any reviews?

I searched pretty hard one night a few weeks ago and found a review of the 150-500. It was a badly done review by someone in Japan. I guess the lens was released in Japan first. For all I know, this could be something that happens with all the nice Japanese lenses. Anyways, the review left me with more questions than answers. I can't wait to see a real review. I will probably be buying either that or the 100-400L lens before the end of the summer if all goes well financially for me.

(Hopefully he'll be doing some real fishing later today - wearing his Crocs, of course. )

Well I got me DS

Course the wife got some games too. I like to think of it as a Mother's Day/Father's Day gift to both of us, since we will both play it.

Nada. 15 years of marriage, 8 years of being a dad, not one father's day gift. Then again, I never have gotten my wife anything for mother's day either. No anniversary or birthday gifts either. It's just not our style. On the other hand, I finally ordered to extension tubes to replace the ones that were stolen from me back in '03.

I also ordered a Sigma 150-500. I'm not sure whether it's what I want, but it's so back ordered that I thought I'd get in an order now while I do my research. I'll cancel my order later if I decide I don't want it. I'm just nervous about showing up in Yellowstone with nothing longer than a 70-200 and a teleconverter. I either need to buy something longer or rent something.
