Father's Day

My wife got me a blueberry pie. She also bought herself a Crumpler $5mill bag a few days ago. Oh well, it's a good thing that I love her so much. :)

There'll probably be no new camera equipment for a while. We recently had a bit of a tragedy in the family, which was pretty bad but the one upside is that we may be more free to take a vacation early next year than we had planned. Currently thinking about WDW vs our first Disney cruise (probably 7-night western Caribbean), or (heaven forbid) a non-Disney trip :lmao: - dunno yet. If that happens, then I'll probably be looking at at least one new lens (16-50mm F2.8), maybe the 60-250mm F2.8 too, which should be out then.

But for now - nuttin', honey!

Fergus, good luck with the DS - we have a GBA (now basically abandoned) and a PSP, and she uses it waaaay more than I ever get a chance to, just like with the GBA. :) (I was smart before that, we both had our own Atari Lynx - I may have to consider my own PSP one of these days!)

I bought my DW a pink DS for Mother's Day. I might end up getting a couple games for myself, but I do not play that many games anymore. She loves all the brain training type games. This is a big gift time for us. On most years, we have Father's Day, our anniversary (17th), and DW's birthday (24th) all within about a two week time. With so much going on, we do not spend much on each. My DW did tel me to go ahead and buy something within reason for photography. She even said to go ahead and get the 10-17mm, but I just cannot justify $400 for a lens that will not really get that much use. Leaves a good X-mas present option from my parents though :thumbsup2 I am thinking about getting a flash. I just have to decide if the $70-80 difference between the cheaper Pentax and the Metz is worth adding swivel.

It's your 17th anniversary and your wife's 24th birthday? You married her when she was only 7! You devil! :rotfl2:

The Zenitar 16mm is a nice lens if you don't mind not having full fisheye, and fairly cheap. For flash, I'd go with the Pentax... I haven't used the Metz, but there's always the danger that it might have a problem with an unreleased DSLR, and will it work wirelessly off the built-in flash on the K10D/K200D/K20D? Gotta think ahead. :) If you can find someone buying a K200D/K20D, you might be able to piggyback a flash on their order and save some money with the rebate... while you're at it, have 'em order me the 16-50mm too. ;)

I got a whole bunch of nice polo style shirts. Sounds exciting, huh? Actually, where I am shooting for a baseball team this summer, they were essential as I want to look decent and give a good impression to the team and the league as it is only my first season doing this.

One question, do the DS's work interactively in WDW? I read somewhere that they were working on this and it was being tested recently.

I did not even see it that way when typing it. Those are the dates. I wish we were that young sometimes! That would be really hard to explain the almost fifteen year old daughter though. The anniversary will be the eighth and my DW would kill me if I said how old she was on here!

They were testing some things, I believe there was a PotC minigame that would automatically download somewhere, and they've tested using Disney-provided DS's as kind of a roving park map, that'll show you what's near you, what characters are nearby, upcoming live shows, etc. Sort of a pocket-sized Pal Mickey.

That's just what WDW needs... we already have people walking into you (or pushing strollers into you) because they're staring at a paper map, now they'll be busy trying to read a DS while running into things. Yipes!
