1. What was yours?
2. An advice for a father-daughter song appropriate for a father who is everything Disney to her?

(who is older, and who is a *huge* Disney fan that read his daughter from several of a thousand (no exaggeration here) Disney books throughout the first ten years of her life every single night? And who took his daughter to the 50 yr anniversary movie of Snow White (who was born on the year it came out in theatres 1937)

Thanks!

I'm considering using the song- Remember The Magic, by Brian McKnight, off Disney's Music in the Park cd. While it's a fairly old song now, it's still beautiful. I'm not even engaged yet, but know that whenever I do get married, this is going to be played as my father-daughter dance (or in some capacity as I may skip a reception). Here are the lyrics if you're not familiar with the song-

"Can you remember
Back to a simpler time
Back to the watercolor days
That still run through your mind

Oh, I remember just my old
friend and me
Runnin’ through an open field
The way it used to he

The feeling that our hearts could
just take wings
We could live out all our dreams
The journey there was never far away

But like a dream come true
That’s still inside of you
The secret of tomorrow is
To live your dreams today

Remember the night
Remember the feeling
Remember the magic
In our lives

You opened up my eyes
To a new world revealing
So remember the magic
Just remember the magic
One more time
Oh, remember
Do you remember
The way it used to feel
When love was only make-believe
And fairy tales were real

Oh, I remember
You were with me once again
Free to live our fantasies
It never has to end

The feeling that our hearts
would just take wings
We could live a world of dreams
Together we would sail against the wind
And now I know where to begin
How to find it all again
From now until forever

Remember the time
Remember the feeling
Remember the magic
In your eyes

You opened up my heart
And you gave life new meaning
So remember that feeling
Just remember the magic
One more time
One more time
Remember the magic"

Have you heard "Remember When" by Leann Rymes on the Disneyland 50th Anniversary CD? OH MY GOSH!!!! It is Beautiful...a PERFECT song to dance with your Disney-loving, doting daddy!!!!! I ALWAYS think of my wedding day when I hear that song. :lovestruc If you have not heard it, RUN go get it NOW!!!! Even if you don't use it for your daddy-daughter dance, you are sure to love it!!!!!

I love that song Beautiful from the Jim Brickman disney songbook album......
Makes me cry everytime...... Wayne Brady does a superb job with that song!

Breaking with the disney theme the best father daughter song hands down is Paul Simon Father and Daughter. It's about 3 or 4 years old know from the Wildthornberry soundtrack. best one I have heard in a long time. :charac2:

I would also recommend the LeAnn Rimes song it makes me cry every time and seems fitting.

here are some words

Do remember your imagination?
when neverland was your destination
your magical adventure isn't over yet
just hold on tight and don't forget

Every wish
Every dream you ever had
just close your eyes and it will all come rushing back
fly away
all you need is to believe and
remember When....

Thank you all . . .
for making me CRY!

Seriously, though, they are all beautiful- and I will check into all of them. :goodvibes

Oh definitely Leann Rymes' "Remeber When" I love that song and it is so fitting for a father-daughter dance! :thumbsup2

My husband and our daughter are dancing to Butterfly Kisses at our vow renewal for the father-daughter dance. I will dance with my father-in-law.

Well, this is very non-Disney, but the theory could work for you.

I was having a great deal of trouble picking a father daughter song that would really be special and meaningful to both of us. I went through all the standards (including Butterfly Kisses, blah) and wasn't happy. They were all so cliche. Anyway, I'm at this wedding a few months before my own and this song comes on. My first thought was "I wish Dad was here, this is totally something we dance together to". I mean, since I was little, this was a song Dad and I danced too whenever we heard it. The song was The Twist, but that part doesn't matter. My Dad and I danced at my wedding to a song that had meaning for both us of and we had an awesome time doing it!

So, I would pick something that strikes you as "your dad", something you listened to or makes you think of something fun you two did together. I would absolutely consider a Disney song, but maybe one that makes you think of your trips, something you might hear in the parks...

i know i posted the song remember when, but i just realized that i think I want that one for me and my dad as well. I was thinking more traditional at first like buterfky kisses. But none of my other songs are traditional so who cares!

yea another decision made

what cd can you find the song Remember When on??
im looking for it on amazon?

I have that song on my "Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth" CD from WDW. They don't sell it in stores but they do in the parks. However, I've seen plenty of people selling copies of it on Ebay.

non disney to the floor jungle boogie, the actual dance will probably be fathers eyes by amy grant.

34 days to go! :bride:

We used "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins from Tarzan.

We thought the words were perfect. It was a little bit faster, but we didn't want a slow, sappy song. We combined father/daughter and mother/son, as well. We ended up with the whole family up there!

UnderTheMistletoe, I was going to suggest the same thing. I love that song, and it definitely is sweet without being sappy, which is great for a "father-daughter" dance, especially if your dad is anything like mine! :p

Me & my dad danced to Share a Dream Come True from the end of the Magic in the Streets Disney CD.

I would reccommend that or Remember When
