Do you plan on watching it? I for one am not sure if I want to, so I think I will record it and think about it!

Do you not want to watch it b/c you think Hollywood has the facts down so good that it will be scary?

Sorry - I just can't see watching a movie like that and letting it get me worked up. If there is nothing else on, perhpas for some entertainment value, but please don't let Hollywood Hype get you worked up.

you bet! :thumbsup2

I absolutely love cheesy made for tv disaster movies. Don't worry, I have absolutely no plans at all to run out tomorrow to buy a couple of boxes of surgical masks. ;)

Disaster films are my favorite genre too and I am dying to see the new Poseidon movie. The Towering Inferno is my favorite of all time. While not made for TV, they both fall into the genre.

I just wanted to add however that it's a good thing you're not planning on buying surgical masks because according to this site (click under Face Off) and you'll see that they don't think surgical masks will be enough to protect yourself from this virus. :rotfl2:

BTW: I too will watch, but I'm not going to be hitting the panic buttons just yet. From all I read, it's looking hopeful that this will not be anywhere near as bad as what some people are predicting. Of course, anything is possible, so I'll keep up to date on the information and plan accordingly.

I am in!

When I saw the first commercial my DH told me he hasn't seen my eyes light up like that in a while! Ha!

I like dumb disaster movies too! Poseidon looks like it might actually be good so this one about the Bird Flu will hopefully be cheesy. ;)

I don't plan to get any more worked up than I do for any disaster movie. This one is strictly fantasy IMO.

Just bumping this up as a friendly reminder in case anyone forgot it's on tonight.

Yeah, I'm in the mood for a spooky movie. I'm going to watch it like I watched the one about the giant volcano blowing up and hurling meteors everywhere and ripping the city apart...............MIGHT happen, but I won't hold my breath.

Movies like this one make me just shake my head. Are they really that desperate for ratings? Talk about a sweeps stunt. I'm sure it'll be pretty ridiculous and if there's nothing else to entertain me I may tune in ;)

I won't be watching. Instead, I'll be watching what is likely to be a disastrous finale of Gilmore Girls.

I'm watching. It is S-L-O-W. It's not very good. Remember, 'Outbreak' the movie? It was 10,000,000 times better.

That's why we're watching too!!

But I think we might buy some surgical masks...that poly stuff DH is using to refinish the entertainment center STINKS! :rotfl2:

eh - sounds like sensationalism & irresponsible television to me. I won't get sucked in. We'll watch Idol, then whatever games are on - maybe even go to bed early!

Actually, I didn't think it was that great of a movie (though not horrible either), but I certainly don't think it was sensationalized at all. The movie ended with the death toll worldwide at only 24,000,000. In comparison to the 1918 epidemic, that's nothing as upward to 100,000,000 (according to some estimates) died.

I don't quite understand why they took the jabs at France though. France developed an immunization (at least for the 1st mutation) and in the movie France refused to send it to other countries until every French citizen was treated. I just don't feel with the current situation that they should have used France as the developing country.

I saw this movie and only watched about 10 minutes of it. Found it boring so I channel surfed instead.

Aw, I missed it. Totally forgot it was coming on last night. As others, I love disaster movies. I agree with you Nance, Towering Inferno rocked! I would love to see a remake, but I think it would remind people too much of 9-11.

My kids asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day and I told them I wanted them to take me to see Poisedon...

That's what we're doing too. Dinner and a movie! It's funny cause we have The Poseidon Adventure (1972)on VHS and just watched it the other day. When we went to see United 93 and saw the first trailers of the remake, we were awestruck. Now we all need to see it! As we were watching the old one on VHS I kept thinking, imagine what they could do today!

BTW, the remake of The Omen looks like it's going to be hideous! Some things just shouldn't be touched and IMO, this was one of them!

OK, I watched the bird flu movie last night. But not because I wanted; I felt like I HAD to as "homework" for my job. I work in Corporate Communications and one of my responsibilities is distributing news, info, and education in the event of a disaster. I'm currently on our pandemic task force.

Gotta tell ya, it was a real chore to stay awake and keep watching. I wanted to change the channel just b/c it was so depressing. Add the weak storylines and the exaggerated scenes (bloody noses, chain link barricades, supply distribution, etc) and I finally went to bed at 9:15. Just couldn't stay till the end.
