Fat guy with questions

Also with Rock & Rollercoaster make sure you get in the front of one of the cars. Each section sits 4 people, two in front two behind. You do not need to sit in the very front of the coaster but it helps to sit in the front of the individual cars. I always ask for an odd row (1,3,5,7, etc) and they always assign me one of these rows. Same goes for Space Mountian but don't ask for an odd row.

Test Track also has limited space in the back seat. Ask if you can sit in the front seat.

Expedtition Everest has a test seat at the front of the ride so that you may check to see if you are safely accomodated by the restraint prior to waiting in line.

I am 6'4" and ex-football, so I can empathize - my findings:
1) Waist/Girth Problems
. . . seat restraint on Expedition Everest can very tight
2) Tall/Legs/Knees Problems
. . . knee-knocker on Big Thunder Mtn, and hard to avoid
. . . knee-knocker on Haunted Mansion, and hard to avoid
. . . knee-knocker on Splash Mtn, but can turn sideways easily
. . . leg-room on The Land boat ride, except front row
. . . leg-room on Ellen's Energy seating, but can turn sideways
. . . leg-room on RnRC, but first row works OK
. . . leg-room on Space Mtn is OK, get in legs first and slide down
. . . head-room on Haunted Mansion, unable to avoid hitting head !

I'll add leg room issues on IASW.

Ok, I have a story of my Southwest incident that I can tell. I was leaving from Baltimore for Florida and was asked if I have ever traveled with SW before. I explained yes, and yes i fit ok and put the armrest down. She then said she would mark in on my rssie not to ask again. Well on return flight home, I boarded first, due to a sore knee, well I guess they thought I was preboarding with a second seat bought. They guy even asked, do I have another ticket, I didnt. My son (12) and I got on and sat down to wait for dad. For some reason it was taking a long time to board people and the staff kept looking at me. They came over and asked how are you? I knew what they were getting at. I just replied fine, that we were waiting for husband to board and we were sitting together. That seemed, to settle them. Then everyone got on. Then the gentlemen who took our tickets came over and asked for my name. I asked why, he couldnt give a real reason and I said no. Never said anymore and finallly off we went. Delayed the flight by 15 minutes.

one other time leaving Florida, while waiting for our plane, a supervisor came up to ask for my ticket, and mentioned my weight in front of alot of people waiting for the plane. I told her i fit just fine on the way down and that if she wanted to discuss if further, then she could discuss it in private.

I can happily say, this time when I go in January, I am at least 115 pounds lighter. and more coming off

A useful tip...

Pull the seat belt alllll the way out BEFORE you sit down. That's much easier than digging it out from under your rear end.

I had a similar issue the last time I flew SW. I have flown SW all my adult life, and I have been pooh sized all this time. I have never had a problem before. I got to the check in desk at PHL this last time and was asked by a manager if I could fly with the armrest down. I said I didnt know, probably? She then told me I had to buy a 2nd seat. If I didnt use it, I would be refunded the money, but I sitll had to buy one. I freakout because I didnt have the $$ to buy that plane ticket! I was in tears on the phone with my parent's, I thought I was going to miss my brothers wedding! Another manager saw me and told me that I could go on ahead, no need to buy another ticket since I had flown SW before with no issues.

At Disney tho, the only ride I have a problem with is Space mountain. Its very hard to get into and out of as a pooh sized person. DBF and I will be avoiding it on our trip.

I am an overweight person and never been to Disney World I am 6'3 and 400 lbs. I'm very worried about riding rides I have seen other forums were people say don't worry about it, but I don't know I want some personal stories. If I can't get some stories of people close to my weight that would be great. Thanks everyone.

To you...I have found that if you search for 'Pooh Size' on this board you will find lots of helpful information.

I started looking because my husband is Pooh Sized. I didn't give it much thought about our upcoming trip (Oct 21) because in 5'10" and about 160, until we were at the grocery store the other day...he wanted to purchase Slim Fast. I didn't ask why, I just knew. He is about 6' and 280 to 300 pounds. So I came home and started searching the board.

I have found so much wonderful information that has helped him get excited about our 5 year anniversary trip. Because of all of the stories from others, I really do believe that everyone can have a fantastic time and enjoy the rides at Disney.

^Your husband(and the other guys on this thread) have ZERO to worry about. I'm that size(larger, in fact), and during my two visits(2008 and 2010), I had no issues whatsoever on any rides. In fact, Disney World, because of it's accessibility in a lot of different ways, is one of the few places in the world where I DON'T even think about my size. And that frees me up just to have fun with my family.

There are only a couple of instances at WDW where there is a weight limit...horseback riding, Segway rides, and while it doesn't have a weight limit, apparently "Sum of All Thrills" is a challenge for bigger people. Since I haven't been interested in any of the three, it's been no big deal.

That said, the tip about pulling the seatbelt out all the way is a big help. Not because it's necessary for an actual fit, but because it's a time-saver. I was always in and buckled either at the same time, or before everyone else.

I'm the same size now as I was in my previous two visits, but I'm planning on starting Couch-to-5K tomorrow in hopes of running a 5K on Thanksgiving Day. So for my next WDW visit(February), I'm hoping to be several pounds lighter. Won't matter for the rides, but will help with energy level, feet, and looking better for pics.

Can't wait!

We are about the same size, and I find more trouble with leg room than the seats. Rides with lap belts make sure you pull it out all the way before sitting down.

just curious...those of you who dont read the pooh sized thread and are on here...do you ever fly SW??? If so have you had any problems???
Have flown SW for 4 trips without any issues-but I guess it helps that 1 of my DD'S can sit next to me so some other adult doesn't have to;might be an issue if that was'nt the case.
