Quick afternoon showers are always possible, particularly in the summer, and I do not consider those being anything to alter our plans.

When the rain really hits, going for most of the day or as a full blown storm lasting multiple days, what alternatives have you really enjoyed to keep it from ruining your precious Disney travel days?

December 2023, the rain was so bad our Jollywood Nights party for the evening was cancelled before noon! I actually went to see 2 movies that day :) When it is so hot in July that it makes me stay in the room, I will close the drapes, turn out the lights and watch movies all afternoon - that is something I rarely can do guilt-free at home.

We've had days where we were sloshing through ankle deep water but as long as we were prepared, the parks tend to empty out and we can still have a good time. Flip flops or quick dry shoes make all the difference. I also carry a ziplock with dry washcloths inside to dry off with whenever we go inside.

With that said, there have been a few times we spent most of the day in the rain and didn't feel like going out for dinner so we ordered pizza or Chinese takeout and had a very nice time relaxing in the room watching movies. If we're in a hotel with the rooms attached to the lobby, it's also nice to wander around and really take time to look at the decorations. Wilderness Lodge and Jambo have so many interesting things that we often just rush past. The community halls can be fun too. We made tie dyed shirts once, my daughter spent some time in one coloring another time.

Hotel lounges are so underrated & overlooked. Some of the best foods on property come from hotel lounges. They also can make your order & drinks to-go back to your room. Highly recommend Crew’s Cup Lounge & Territory Lounge.

Dine at hotel restaurants that accept ADRs so you can rideshare door to door. S71 has a lovely breakfast and lunch menu. If I was faced with a whole day of heavy rain I would do late breakfast at S71, monorail hop and check-out the hotel gift shops (sometimes they have items unique only to that property), relax at my hotel, dinner at AKL with an early arrival noticeably before for sunset to try for some animal viewing.

Multiple rain days- I’m getting soaked and I will just deal. I don’t mind one day off of parks but if we aren’t talking park closures I’m not giving up more than 1 park day due to weather.
