Have Disney said when the Fastpass+ will roll out for everyone?

I am imagining that all hell will break loose and fastpasses will be snatched up as quickly as possible.

As I am not going till August, I am kind of hoping that it will have been up and running for a while, so I can get some tips from the Dis..;)

We like to wing it a little whilst still having some of our dining reservations planned, so often change our minds about visiting a particular park. I cannot see that we would be able to make Fastpass reservations the day before visiting the park... they will almost certainly have been snapped up!

I wonder what Disney have planned for this happening?

There are suggestions that they are aiming to have this rolled out by the end of this year/beginning of next year. Whether that is accurate remains to be seen but I think Disney are keen to get this out of testing and into full roll out as soon as possible.

I don't think it's going to be as bad as what we fear, although given the choice I prefer the old FP system

We are going next June and I'm not really worried about it at this stage. I think by then most of the serious issues will be addressed or well on their way to being addressed. They have to get through Easter and Spring break, both high crowd seasons, without egg on their [Disney's] face so I am fairly confident that by the Summer those initial hiccups will at least be fewer than what they will be in the first few months.

I think I read that Dec of this year it was supposed to be available for everyone. I think that most people for November will be able to use Fastpass+. I know that we are using it for November.
I really do hope that it doesnt turn into a dinning reservation kind of thing where you have to reserve the times you want 6 months in advance if you really want that specific time and ride.

I think everyone is over reacting a little. When at the parks, look how many people are actually not using the Fastpass system.

During the last financial conference call the indication was that everything has gone well and it will roll out by the end of Q4. Looking at the "testing" schedule, it appears that almost all of the resorts are in the "test" by November. It is unlikely (in my opinion) that there will be a day when they say "we're rolling it out on x date", rather, once all resorts are working in the "test" it will just stay.

My guess is that by the end of November, it'll be functioning for everyone staying on-site. The plan seems to be that they will run it for on-site guests only for a short time, but it will be offered to off-site guests in the new year (at a price yet to be determined).

MrsR and I were talking about it today and I agree with a PP that it won't be the dreaded situation most people fear for the vast majority of the year. There will be teething problems but overall I am confident it will be much better than some fear. Something occurred to me today that hasn't before...I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes :rotfl2: The new system effectively makes traditional check-in pretty much obselete.

If you have the Magic Band shipped to guests, they don't need it for ME, on arrival at the resort, you check your MDE which says you're in room x, the band is already set up to open your room! You would literally go straight to your room and hit the ground running.

This is a major plus of the MDEx /RFID system. The only down side is that for international guests there will be no option to bypass these check ins for convenience, or at least not the first trip. It should work once you have your MB's for any future trips within the three years that the magic bands are valid as they should be able to simply reactivate them with the new info (or that is supposed to be what happens). I do wish they would give the option to international guests who wish to simplify the arrival procedure to pay to have them shipped home in advance; while I object to paying $15 for a voucher for PP+ to be sent to me only to have to take it all the way back before it can be validated, there is far more merit in having the bands before arrival and I think there are plenty guests who would be happy to use that option if it were available.

It will be coming out of "test" at some point as they will stop giving people the chance to "double dip" on FP as they have said all along it will be FP or FP+ but you won't be able to use both.

I also don't think they will let you by-pass the check in desk completely as they will want to check IDs still and get you to sign the charging form as you have to add a CC during OLCI.

And there is our best friend again - inconsistency at Disney :rotfl2:

Charge to post a voucher which could easily be collect at the resort but no choice to pay to have your bands shipped :rolleyes1
