Hi Everyone,

This is my first posting, so please be gentle with me!

I'm currently planning a short trip to DLRP for later this month (family of two adults and one nine year old son) and have a couple of initial questions (I'm sure more questions will follow .... :thumbsup2 ).

Firstly, I'm trying to make a choice between the onsite hotels and I was wondering what the lowdown is on the fastpass & vip fastpass options available with some of the hotels - I'm not too sure I completely understand what you get with this - how does it differ from the regular fastpasses that anyone can use in the parks?

Do you think this is a significant factor to take into account when chosing which hotel?

Secondly, how busy does DLRP tend to get during English school holidays? - we'll probably go during our half term. Is it likely to be more affected by French/European holiday? If so, does anyone know of any holiday dates coming up?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Rebecca

Hi rebs,

I can half answer your holiday question with this link

http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/practical/publicandschoolholidays/

It's half term in Yorkshire next week (which is when we go) so I know that England has half term all over the place. At this time of the year I think it's the quietest because not everyone has a week's break at the same time.

Regarding the fast passes. I think you are only allowed one active fastpass via the normal park. The VIP fastpasses (unlimited from DLH - and 1-3 from other hotels) allow you to just go into the fastpass queue when you like I think. Hope someone can confirm this as I am staying in HNY next week and I think I'm entitled to a free fastpass ticket. I'm sure I'll get told how to use it when I arrive - but at the moment - it's all about getting as much information to avoid bursting with excitement :cheer2:

I am not too sure about the VIP Fastpassess, but when stopping in the DLH you are given one hotel fastpass for each day of your stay (including your first day and your depature day). They are dated and can only be used on the date on the ticket and can also not be used until after 2.00pm. I also think that you must use at least one hour before the park closes.

Although it was nice to have these passes I do not think that I would have let them effect my choice of hotel. We wanted to stop in the DLH and the fastpasses were just an added bonus!!!!

Hi Rebecca and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

Regarding school holidays you'll find a link to a number of UK schools as well as French on DLP board here under the School Holiday link :thumbsup2

Fastpasses are available to all guests, whether on-site, off-site or visitor. You put your passport into the fastpass machine and get a ticket back with a time window to come back to the attraction. You can only hold one for each attraction until your window commeces. But you can hold a number of fastpasses for different attractions at the same time eg Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan etc

VIP fastpasses are a perk of certain hotel bookings :) Depending on the time of year the extra expenditure of the higher grade hotels may not make the FP a significant benefit.

But you only get the VIP FP if you are staying at Castle Club (DLH) or in one of the suites of the Disney Hotels! And if you are staying in one of the standard rooms of the DLH you get 3 normal FP per guest!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome and for the great info.

The vip fastpass deal looks like it would it be great, but I'm not sure it would be worth the significant extra cost involved.

I'm not sure I would bother choosing based on getting the hotel fastpass.

Thanks for the details on french holidays - very useful.

Useful link, but, WARNING!, I found a significant error regarding one of the links on that page.

The page you get for French public holidays:
http://www.day-tripper.net/infofrench-publichols.html#anchorpublichols
says it's for 2007, but the days are wrong. Didn't check them all, but it shows July 14 and 21 are Fridays, but those are actually SATURDAY.

I did use the contact form to notify the site's administrators.

A bientot.

The whole page is 2006! Decmber 26 was in 2006 a Tuesday! And Pentecost is this year in May not in June like last year!
