Fastpass viewing of Illuminations

How early to get there? And is viewing there easy and clear even for small children anywhere in the designated section? thanks

If you want to get along the fence, I would say at least an hour before Illuminations since I see people start lining up sometimes an hour and a half before the show. A lot of the viewing area if not at the fence is on a slope. I always like to stand towards the back, and to the side. It's easy to get out and you beat a lot of the rush towards the exit after the show.

Arrival is 8:30 to 8:50.

There was not a whole lot of people in the pen when I went. So that was a lot of people sitting down and spread out. It was very nice.

half hour before should be fine. It was pretty empty when we went and loved the view from the FP area.

30 minutes early should suffice. We went during Spring/Easter break last year and it wasn't very crowded at all in the IllumiNations FP+ pen. BUT...there had also been some major thunderstorms that afternoon and early evening, and I think it was even drizzling a bit while we waited for IllumiNations to begin. So that may have affected the crowd, I don't know. I was able to get that FP+ the day before, so I don't think it was really all that in demand. Same for Wishes FP+ (back when they had them). I was checking the app the night before and got one, so we did it. Same as IllumiNations, it wasn't all that crowded and we sat stretched out on the ground.

For IllumiNations we hung at the back/top of the slope until the show started and then moved forward. We weren't front row, but close enough. It was an amazing view!
