Fastpass viewing area for Illuminations

Oh boy! I just noticed that. I also see that some of them have request fastpass and some have add to plans. Do you know how I can request fastpass for Wishes and for MSEP?

MSEP and Wishes only have FP+ available on certain nights (I don't think there are any available after September 24th at this point, but may likely be added soon)

If you wanted to request them, however, you'd find them on the FP+ attraction selection screen (they'd be on the list along with all the other attractions, and you'd add them just like you add regular attractions).

Thank you for this info. I guess I'll just keep checking back. But as ROBO said before, I will probably lose one of my FP+ that I already added. I may just watch from the green prime viewing area on ROBO's map, if I can't get the FPs for MSEP and Wishes.

I can vouch for the green prime viewing area on ROBO's map being the PRIME spot for MSEP & Wishes. However, the projected images on the Castle were partially blocked for us ( the lower images). We've been in a particular spot within that area twice. But there was no space left there this past February 90 minutes before MSEP! Word of this location is spreading; :sad2: We decided to just head towards the exit and had very good viewing of MSEP near it's beginning and then watched the higher fireworks from Wishes from outside the park before heading to our resort bus. At least we got to bed early that night!

Can I ask when this showed up for you??

It showed up several days later, can't remember if I had our bands yet. I went in to change the times on several FP+s & there it was. I added Wishes, then checked the next date for Illuminations, it was there also.

Wishes & Illuminations are listed on my plans, but it says this is for the select viewing area at the Rose Garden. I don't see any fast passes for these listed elsewhere.

1- Wishes & Illuminations are listed on my plans,

2- but it says this is for the select viewing area at the Rose Garden.

3- I don't see any fast passes for these listed elsewhere.

1- Where?

2- The Rose Garden is only at MK, of course, so it's a FP+ area for Wishes only.

3- Under what heading do you see the mention of the Rose Garden, because
it is only a "select viewing area" for FP+...
There's no other reason for the site/app to mention the Rose Garden
as a "select viewing area" except in connection with FP+.

Hmm I'm only 9 days out and have been able to customize MagicBands/pick Fastpasses since Day 25. The Wishes and Fantasmic FP+ options showed up later though, so I guess I'll just continue to hope for an IllumiNations FP+ option on a weeknight then! Thanks!

See now I'm like 50 days out and have had illuminations fast pass picked since then. No other night events available. I know I have the fast pass for it cause it was in the full list for Epcot when I picked soaring and test track. It also has the time to return for seating at the front of world showcase. So weird how's it's kinda diff for everyone c

Can you actually sit down on the grass at Rose Garden to watch Wishes? Sounds like a good plan!

For IllumiNations, that spot is crazy good!

Yes, people have been sitting in the grass.

I agree about Illuminations. You usually have to find a good spot an hour or more before the show (there are really only 3-4 quality viewing areas, and they're not very big). I like the idea of walking up 15 minutes before showtime and getting a decent view.

I think it's easy to find a spot 15 minutes before Illuminations with a decent view, and this is why I have Illuminations rated low on my FP+ priority list. Additionally, I wouldn't want to be stuck with a reserved spot that turns out to be downwind from WS Lagoon.

Strongly disagree.

Don't think you'll find too many here who do agree.

If you get the MSEP FP+, just stay put! It was nice to be able to spread out for Wishes, but our viewing would have been much better in front of the castle, especially for the projection show.

Does this mean that people that have a FP+ for MSEP, but not for wishes can stay there to watch wishes? Or did you mean those that have both?

The Wishes viewing area is not in the same location, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to hang around in the MSEP area for Wishes. However, I personally think the MSEP viewing area is too close to the castle to enjoy Wishes properly. YMMV.

It was reported by at least one poster who had FP+ for MSEP that the CM's there
said that he/she/they could stay in the MSEP viewing area
after the parade and watch Wishes (and, by default, Celebrate the Magic.)

I'll assume that the CM's remove any ropes or other barricades for that area after the parade and those who
have been in the area can just "hang around" there until Wishes. (Makes sense.)

The person who reported that you could "stay" already had reservations at the Rose Garden for Wishes,
so (s)he went there to watch.

For me, the Rose Garden is not ideal for Wishes (steep angle too far to the right) and
even worse for Celebrate the Magic.
Although both of those shows would be quite watchable from the Rose Garden, both would be a better
experience seen from most places in the Hub.
If you think that you're a bit too close to the Castle, you will have plenty of room and time
to take a few steps "back" after the parade passes.
Lots and lots of room is made available RIGHT AFTER the parade passes.
It fills rather quickly, but anyone nearby can move to some prime real estate.

If I had MSEP FP+, I'd simply stay in that general area afterward for the other two shows.
Also, this method allows guests not to have to use up one more of the very
valuable and restricted FP+ choices on an "extra" viewing spot on the same night.

Yes, they take down the ropes after MSEP, so you can stay there (and I recommend it), but your spot will be descended on by the masses.

I agree with you, that area is definitely too close. Our 1st visit to WDW, that is where the kids wanted to watch them and afterwards they regretted it. We now like to be a bit further back.

What can I say. This has been my experience in the past. But I don't go to WDW often enough to say that it's not just bad luck and poor choice of day on my part. Last time we tried to find a spot 30 minutes before the show. The front was packed, Italy was packed, the area in front of UK was stuffed, Mexico too. A couple areas were roped off for special seating (or something). We decided to come back another night. :confused3

Easywdw suggests arriving 30-45 minutes prior to showtime to get the best spots, and in my previous experience, that's about the minimum you have to pick a spot before the prime real estate is taken, and you'll be behind trees, heads, or other paraphernalia.

I don't get to see Illuminations often enough that I can consider a partially obscured view to be a "decent" view.

I wouldn't be "stuck" with that viewing spot, now would I? If according to you, 15 minutes is enough time to find a good spot, I could check the wind 20 minutes prior to showtime. If the wind is the wrong way, I can just skip the FP+ and stroll around to a "decent" spot in the next 5 minutes. Win-win, right?

Considering that Soarin and Test Track are the only two attractions you need a FP+ for, I wouldn't be broken up over "wasting" my FP+ on Illuminations, even if I didn't use it or if I found a "decent" spot elsewhere 15 minutes before the show and decided to keep it.

I don't suggest choosing a partially obstructed viewing spot.
