Fastpass + seems to be ruining many posters trips to WDW.

wow-- I didn't know it was ok to call people nazzi's for their opinions on a message board. this thread is out of control.

I didn't see the Nazi reference, but what you're describing is so common on the web that it's had a name since 1990.

 You snapped at someone else to get over it when you didn't like their opinion and you're the one getting flamed?

hi everyone
new to this forum. just want to say that when we were at wdw oct 27-30..we had a fantastic time! we stayed at wilderness lodge. we used fastpass +.
we used EMH and rode space mountain over and over until 1am!!!! we didnt even have to go back outside they just let us go in the back way.
I went online a week before and planned which park we would be in on which day and used fast pass+ and got ALL the rides we wanted and the times we wanted. The new system is FANTASIC. We never waited in a line once, for anything. And didnt even use the old fast pass kiosk even though we could. Even the stanby lines we used after we used our 3 fastpass+ were never more than 15 minutes. Ever. Anywhere. We did Everest over and over.
Ive been to WDW 6 times since 1979. I think the new system is excellent.
Also the dining system was great to. I was able to get most of the good times for ANY restaurant. And the ones I couldn't opened up day of!! just kept using the technology to check. We got Le Cellar day of a 7pm!! Any character dining we wanted day of and good times. They opened up the day before because people game the system and double book. With the credit card deposit coming online soon it should be even better.
Is it just me or are there grumpy over reacting visitors here!!??
We had a very magical time at WDW 2013!
Thanks and I welcome your comments.

You only have to project to the next time school's out, like next week.

We get more testimonials here about how wonderful Fastpass+ is when the parks aren't busy than CRT gets dinner reservations.

Yup, once 100% are on the system and Disney starts marketing the heck out of it, getting FP+ ressies for the tough headliners and the Dwarf Train are going to be like getting CG reservations during the July 4th fireworks....

Sure, the experiences might be better for everyone at night, but it would be more fair, right?

Yes. And we all know it's about fairness. ;)

I think we have an early front-runner for Disney's next marketing catch phrase:

Walt Disney World: Get Over It

OMG, that's hysterical! :lmao:

Partly because it's the natural progression from "Limited Time Magic" where my magic coming up is to have the World Of Color show we planned to attend at DLR closed to the general public and reserved for AP holders only. It's now going to take a dose of magic for me to rearrange my schedule to see it on a different night. Happy magic to me! pixiedust:

well the only way I can answer that is to go next year at the same time!!!!
I can tell you this, I've been there in 79, 83, twice in 2006, and just back last month....times they are a changing...back then I didnt have 5 grand to drop for three days and stay in a 400 dollar a night onsite property. The Poly was 59 bucks when I went as a 21 year old!!!
I think the bottom line here is...when the good ole days were around you could drive for ever on that property before you saw anything..no epcot, no downtown disney, nothing...
You may be right about the new system when everybody becomes iphoned to death ...I for one dont own a iPhone..I could never go to WDW in the summer or on peak red days..xmas etc....
Me I will go on number 2 park capacity crowd calander days...after labor day,
october/early november... I'm telling ya this may have been the best time I had at WDW....nobody around!!!!! all you need is lots of $$$$$$ and WDW is a fun place to love life with people and friends you love. I like the new system

We are another family who has been multiple times at different times of year and have never had a problem getting on TSMM at rope drop. We either got a FP and for us this is usually a half day prak so there were always before 2pmish, or got in line and never waited more than 30 minutes or we did both

I dont get this at all!!! Why should I get over it???? I guess it is all about perspective but I dont see anything FAIR about this new system at all. At its current state, it is not fair to offsite, APs and locals. It is not fair to Pop guests.

The old system was more than FAIR, from the time the park gates at say 9am until it closed, EVERY GUEST, had the opportunity to pull FPs, every singles one, no matter who they were or where they were staying, from the family in the suite at GF, to the family at ASSports, the campers at Fort Wilderness, to the family staying at Bonnet Creek, to the local family who drove in from Tampa for the day...every one was on the same playing field from the minute they walked in those gates, some people just CHOSE to do that later in the day.

Yep! Great post!

You want to imply I'm a communist (how very 1950's of you), go right ahead.

You want to not "get over it", knock yourself out.

I really don't care if you cancel trips, inundate Bob Iger's mailbox or spend hours here complaining.

We went, we used it, it worked well. No horror stories. We never waited longer than 20 min in a standby line during a very busy week. We rode Everest 4 times--only once with FP.

I'm done debating. This topic ceased being an intelligent conversation long ago.

Yep the minute you said Get Over It...it ceased to be an intelligent discussion

I do think FP+ will be limited, it is already tiered with only one real headliner as a choice. I hope I am wrong and it rolls out wide open. I also think that most of those who go to the parks later during their vacations and lose out in regard to legacy FP- are some of the very same people who will not book FP+ early enough (60 days out) as that doesn't seem to be their style. By that I mean, those people just seem to go with the flow and not want to over schedule themselves. It seems they may still lose out when the system is full fledged. And with the tiered choices, by booking early those who do like to arrive late only seem to be gaining the choice of their ONE favorite headliner. A slight improvement to maybe getting to the parks late and riding a different headliner due to availability. Not sure I see a winner either way here for any guest with what we are seeing right now with FP+, as long lines seem to be in the future no matter how this pans out.

Well, the Super Tourer's inability to pull 10 FP-/day means 7 more available FP opportunities for Joe Average. If we're worried about day guests an inability, the limiting of FP+ removed that issues. You get three. I get three. It drives traffic to secondary rides, which are probably more okay with the average park guest.

I do believe more popular rides will be hard to get FP+ for and preference will go to resort guests who can book in advance with day guests kind of left with the dregs. That sucks. I do agree.

Were I a go with the flow person (I am not) I'd have lower expectations, Tbh. I'm not saying that to prove my point, I just would. If I'm told the best way to tour is to get up early, but I don't want to (which is just fine. I like sleep too! A lot!) then I have to realize I'm going to have a less productive day than someone who is willing to get up early. If I don't want to get to the park on a busy day during busy season as early as possible, I have to accept that a reduced ability to tour is my lot. If you told me, as a day guest, that if I opt to turn up a 2pm and may only get to ride a handful of rides, there IS a huge value issue and, you're right. I wouldn't go. Or probably wouldn't go. But, that's not me. I'm. It go with it. I like a loose plan, which FP+ provides for me. It means I can FP Soarin', for sure, regardless of what time I could get to the kiosk and, IMO, it wastes less of my time.

I'm pretty sure, people who crunch Disney numbers will have a new touring program and a lot of this will be moot.

What that DISer fails to understand is that we don't all necessarily disagree with everything she said. From her perspective FP+ worked quite well and that's great. However we aren't all her and we don't know what the future will hold but she like so many just can't see beyond their own personal experiences. Telling people to get over it because she had a good time is a meaningless argument at best.

Plus if roughly half of visitors stay offsite then what about them? No one knows what will happen to those people so nothing is fair or certain, at least not yet. The DISers who support FP+ continually ignore them or I suppose just think that they too will have to get over it.

As long as WDW is now all about equality now and taking away advantages of early risers so others can get their beauty sleep, I think it's time for them to move the start times of their big shows back to a time my kids and I can see them instead of after we've left to go to bed. Wishes, Illuminations and Fantasmic should all start by 4 PM or they are just not being fair to everybody.

Great idea nothing better than watching fireworks in daylight:confused3

I agree Planogirl. I am glad FP+ worked for her. I too don't see it going beyond her own personal experience.

Heck I own DVC, I could be sitting here all high and mighty, saying not only do I deserve more FP+ options bc I own at WDW, than those just staying onsite....BUT I dont, why bc I liked the way WDW did things with FP-, like I said before it did not matter who you were, you were treated the same the minute you walked through that gate. That was fair...not this test that they have going on now, and given what I can see for the future of this program, I dont see fairness going forward, even when it all rolls out to everyone, IF it rolls out to everyone.

 You snapped at someone else to get over it when you didn't like their opinion and you're the one getting flamed?[/QUOTE]

I didn't snap at anyone. But you bet, you are all going to have to get over it or quit going. You think Disney is going to cancel this because a vocal minority here wants to take their ball and go home? Please.

And no, this ceased to be a intelligent conversation MONTHS ago, not when I said get over it. Keep on piling on. I have never seen such bitterness about a vacation destination! I really cannot believe how mean spirited the commentary is. I don't see many here who actually want to have a conversation. Most just want their negative feelings validated.

And no, you are not the majority. Go visit other boards. Much less negativity about this. I didn't hear anyone complaining when we were there either. In fact, I kept hearing about how cool the system is, etc. etc. I know that isn't what you want to hear but it's the truth.

Just have to say -- we are not "super tourers." I'm not sure that is possible with three small, very unpredictable people in tow. :rotfl2: We are just a family who wakes up early on vacations and uses FP. We do not have spreadsheets or touring plans.

We never got 9-10 FP/day, but we knew that without trying very hard (just arriving at RD), we could get at least one FP for every headliner we wanted each day, more than three at MK, and two in one day for a family favorite like Peter Pan or Jungle Cruise. We could adjust plans based on weather and how everyone feels...e.g., riding Splash on the warmest winter day, or skipping coasters when tummies were shaky.

I have many wonderful family memories at WDW with my children. I'm sure I will have many more. But this will significantly change our vacations. Isn't it okay to talk about that?
