I hope this is just a rumor and Disneyland won't follow this possible rule.

FASTPASS Return Time Enforcement Begins March 7, 2012

by R. A. Pedersen 39 Comments

Cast Members at the Walt Disney World Resort have been informed that enforcement of the FASTPASS return time window will begin on March 7, 2012. This means guests will be allowed to return to an attraction with a FASTPASS during the time frame indicated on the FASTPASS – not anytime after the window as with the previous policy until now.

Some leeway is being built into the new policy – guests can now return 5 minutes prior to the window (ending the backlog of guests who arrive a few minutes early), and Cast Members are being told to accept the FASTPASS up to 15 minutes after the window as a courtesy.

Currently this new policy is anticipated to roll out on Wednesday, March 7, at the Walt Disney World Resort, though there is still time for Disney to change the exact date and time this goes into effect. There is no word of a similar policy for the Disneyland Resort at this time.

Nooooooooo. This would change everything about how I plan my park days! Hopefully this will not come to pass at DLR.

The issue of FP window enforcement tends to start heated debates mostly on other forums - such as the DIS WDW forum today.

My take is that it would make more sense to enforce the window if:

1. One could get FPs from a central area or by using a SmartPhone or something

2. One had the choice of choosing their own window

With the current system of having to walk to an attraction, then see the FP window, then decide whether to get the window - or realizing it conflicts with a dining reservation or show you want plan to see, that makes the enforcement harder to work with.

At least now with SmartPhone apps you can find out the available FP windows before you trek over to get the FP and waste that time if the window conflicts.

My two cents.

Xpass couldn't work if people just showed up whenever they felt like it. Xpass doesn't make sense at DLR right now. If they do bring it over, it will be awhile.

ewww that would stink! We love being able to grab fastpasses and use them later on when it is convenient for us. Hope they don't implement this at The Land.

I agree it would stink, but the traditionalist in me thinks they should enforce the times, even if it wouldn't be as convenient for me. I know I'm in the minority on this, but why put a time if it doesn't mean anything?

You are right, really. I mean if everyone knew they can come back after they expire, then there really wouldn't be any point in having fastpasses, huh? Sigh. Sure has been nice being "our little secret" though! lol

Bleh!!! This is a terrible idea! It is one little secret we vets like to keep to ourselves!

After so many trips to DL and WDW, I only just found out this last week about being able to come back after the window  We have always gone back during the window and if we have missed a window we have thrown the FP's out, not realising we could still use them :eek:

Our next trip, I finally knew the secret and now they are going to take it away :sad1:

Noooo! I love knowing and using this little secret. :guilty: I hope it doesn't happen.

WHAT!!!!! That is really annoying to me as a frequent visitor to disney world! Hopefully disneyland doesn't follow that same suite! i am hoping to go there over the summer.

Oh no!! :scared1: I would have no idea how to plan if this were to happen. I mean, being a "rule follower" it was a stretch for me to roll with this in the first place but now that I am used to it.....I can't imagine not doing it! I would obviously understand if they did start enforcing the return time window but I am realllllly hoping that they don't!!!!!!

IndayMichelle has a good point about Xpass/people in *WDW* (not DL) eventually being able to book FPs in advance (as part of a premium, extra-charge experience). If the return windows in WDW are not enforced, those people who paid a lot of extra money to get their FPs booked will get stuck in longer lines.

The only reason I could imagine them doing this in DL would be if Disney decided to put DL and WDW on the same page for FPs--and there's no indication at this point they would do that.

The other good news is that it appears if Disney changes the policy at DL, they will get the word out to the online community in some way, instead of people from here showing up after the window and suddenly and unexpectedly being turned away.

It's a little big brother-ish. With the new xpass thing, they will be able to keep track of everything you do in the parks. They'll be able to tell where you eat, what you buy, which rides you ride, which shows you watch, and when you go to the bathroom.

It's applicable at WDW, but not at DLR. DLR has a huge number of locals that visit that don't stay on site. It's not yet worth their while to implement such a huge system.

While kind of creepy, it's a way for them to gather data to hopefully make improvements.

Big brother has a mouse, and he is watching. :scared1:

Of course, not all of us have smartphones, which would put some people at a disadvantage. On the other hand, we would get more exercise! :lmao:
