Does Fastpass significantly reduce waiting times? I have read and heard of people walking right on the rides with a Fastpass "reservation time" and others say the wait time was not a significant difference from the normal line without Fastpass. I am sure it depends on the ride and the time of year but since we are going mid-late June I was counting on the Fastpass as a significant hedge against waiting in the heat and humidity for the more popular attractions.

Depends on the attraction. The big headliners (the "mountain" roller coasters, Peter Pan, etc) it saves a tremendous amount of time compared to standby. For instance Seven Dwarves typically has well over an hour wait (often closer to 2 hrs) whereas typically the fast pass line might take 5-10 minutes (unless it had been closed earlier in which case the fast pass line could easily reach 20 minutes). For other rides that often have shorter standby waits probably not as good of a time savings.

Since there is no charge for them if it even reduces the wait by 5 minutes I say use it. There can be odd situations but almost always it does shorten the wait.

Fastpasses are great. In late June, the parks should be pretty full, so it will feel great to bypass a long, sweaty line and get right on a good ride. Once you use the three FPs that you are allotted, you can get another.

If you walk up to a ride you have a fast pass for and the standby line is short, just use the standby line and change your fast pass selection to another ride.

In my experience fast pass saves a tremendous amount of time, especially when used after 11:00am.

This is what we typically do. Just change the FP to something else while waiting in a relatively short standby line. However, it doesn't happen too often on popular rides.
