FastPass Policy Change

Reminder:

This is a RUMOR from a website with a very BAD track record in the last two years.

The drumbeat on this rumor hasn't gotten any louder.

Only in this thread.

Summary: yes, it could happen but I SERIOUSLY doubt it anytime soon.

There are posts in this thread that state "I deserve". I don't want to quote them because I find them to be rude.

Please quote where anyone said that. I want to see it.

You didn't read that from any of my posts (as you're implying) but you wanted to see it so badly that you were willing to read it as you wanted to instead of the way it was written.

I don't mind a fight but please do me the courtesy of quoting me accurately and I will promise you that I will always do the same.

I know you're being sarcastic but if that plan would maximize the profits of WDW, why wouldn't they do that? Why are we turning to WDW to be a shining example of equality?

I'm not sure it's maximizing profits when some people cut back on coming. For example, I don't go to Universal BECAUSE of their fastpass system.

Yes, even the churches are about $$$!

That really, really, really has nothing to do with the point I was trying to make. I could get into a good discussion about that but it would be so ridiculously off topic that I'm not going to bother.

However those in charge would be well served to take note of the person and his morals, businessman or not, who made it possible for them to be in the position they are in now. Its getting less and less like the way its supposed to be.

According to who? How exactly are things "supposed to be?"

But you are in the miniscule minority, I would think. I highly doubt that the masses are going to boycott Disney because of a tiered FP system. So that point is moot.

Thanks! We'll be at POFQ in September. We stayed at the Pop our first visit, which was fun, but really looking forward to trying out FQ. It looks so lovely!

:thumbsup2 We'll be at PO(Riverside) in November. I can't wait. It's our first time at this resort too. I'm pretty much happy at any resort (Value to Deluxe). We're at WDW and I'm not at home! ;)

You won't quit coming because you don't get an added bonus. I would seriously reduce my time if I would come at all because of a tiered FP system. So I'm not sure the point is moot...

I don't believe anyone mentioned any specific names -- in fact, it was rather pointedly avoided. What you -- or anyone else -- writes will stand or fall on its own merit. People will get to know you by your own words, and based on those words, will choose whether or not to carry on discussions with you.

But no one is going to fight with you or get into a petty flame war with you. That's not how we do things here :) Threads that are nothing more than arguments and have no redeeming qualities get locked down quickly by the mods.

Welcome to the DIS. :thumbsup2

As I wrote before.
Disneyland Paris has a system with different fast passes.

Everyone gets a “normal" fast pass only guests staying on concierge level ore suites get a VIP fast pass and only in the luxury hotels.

It works perfect and nobody is complaining. On the total of guests that visit the parks the few VIP fast passes don’t matter at all.

The VIP pas is a very modest little card and no one will even see it’s a special pass.

Its a great system and its one the main reasons we book a room on concierge level.
No waiting times, no time frame just go to the fast pass entrance.:thumbsup2

Maybe it’s a possibility for Disney to keep the most expensive rooms occupied?
I would not be surprised if Disney would also starting to use this system in WDW.

Every hotel gives his guests on concierge level something "extra" and I just payed 1568 dollar per night in the Disney Hotel Paris over Christmas. Fore that kind of money a VIP pas is no "luxury".

:guilty: I heard about that on the radio. I am a child of the 70's. I grew up watching Bozo the Clown on tv. Boy, when my childhood show stars are starting to pass, it really makes me feel old. :rolleyes1

:sad1: RIP Lary Harmon (A.K.A. Bozo the Clown) :sad1:

They are stopping lunch at Garden Grill as of Oct. 6th and they are removing all characters at LTT as of January 2009.:sad1:

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the info. Shame about Garden Grill. We wanted to eat there for lunch on a future WDW trip. I already made all our ADRs for our upcoming trips. I may try and squeeze in a lunch at Garden Grill (if available) before the changes.

You could always go there for dinner still, right?

As for the actual topic: I am happy just to have fast passes at all. I don't really care how they do it but I do see everyone's side on the issue. As long as they have something, I am happy. We usually visit other theme parks every year and they have nothing like the fast pass system so I can't wait to get to WDW in October to check it out.

I agree with you. We are DVC'ers and AP'ers but I don't expect anything special from it. We already get dining discounts, ticket discounts and misc. other discounts that I am completely satisfied with. I am happy that WDW has a FP system at all and we don't have to pay for it like at US. If it ain't broke...........

Great topic even if it's a huge rumor...first thread I have read from the beginning in a long time!

Yes, they'll still be open for dinner. But, we have a family tradition of eating Fish 'n Chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop for dinner while at Epcot. Also, we usually eat our sit down meals at WDW for lunch (cheaper and the kids usually sit through lunch better than dinner).

Rumors that Disney is going to change how fastpasses are distributed so that guests who are spending more money at WDW receive more fastpasses. Anyone heard anything about this?

From what I did see this is already in place but not being obvious as to make a statement. Have you ever made comparison of your FP to others at the same time received ? We have seen that friends stayed at CR in a suite were able to get another FP one hour sooner than our stay at CBR (last year this was) and we used the FP machine at the same time. So who said that the perks had to be very obvious. I think it would be mistake to make it obvious and to advertise this but if the guest identified as a bigger spending or staying more often gets a tiny break on each FP no one might notice.

I've never, ever heard of this happening to anyone. I've stayed on site several times, at deluxe and DVC the last several times, and the next Fastpass times have ALWAYS followed the same rules that everyone knows - two hours or return time, whichever is sooner.

There is the RARE exception that due to a glitch, networking problem, etc. between the kiosks and the central computer that it could be in "disconnected" mode - where you can get another Fastpass for any other ride right away (I don't know if anyone has ever tried getting one for the same ride).

I don't know if this is what happened in your case, but I don't think there is currently any system in place.

I've been hesitant to mention this .. but I also think that in small ways.. certain benefits are already being extended.

For example : A family I know stayed at a deluxe resort and several times were given "bonus" fastpasses for other attractions. Example: Getting a FP at Space Mountain and being given a "Surprise Bonus" FP for Buzz Lightyear" from the Space Mountain FP machine.

But stopping to think about this logically.. Disney has about 5000 deluxe hotel rooms (or less). I'm too lazy to look up the number but it's around 5k.

Assuming those rooms are COMPLETELY sold out.. which 40 weeks a year.. they are not.. AND assuming 3 people per room (which is probably high), that's 15,000 people spread over 4 parks (assuming even distribution for the purposes of this example) that's rougly 3750 deluxe guests in any given park. And this example also presumes that none of these guests went to waterparks or DTD on the example day.

If Disney extended special privileges to ALL of those guests.. on a consistent basis.. it wouldn't add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of the Fastpass System. It just wouldn't.
