FastPass Policy Change

I was wondering though- since people get that for staying onsite and they can pay for it (at US, IOA), doesn't EVERYONE do it, thereby negating the value? I heard on a review recently that someone who HAD the pass, STILL waited 2 hours for a ride b/c EVERYONE had the FOTL pass.

I think something like allowing onsite guests 1-2 extra FP at their resort per day for 1 park would be cool- like you could pick it before you left for the day.

I cant say I ever heard of anyone ever waiting 2 hours even without FOTL, maybe, just maybe a 2 hour wait for Simpsons when it opened, and rarely for MIB anymore.... I say that story is a Myth!

And Why hasnt this thread been shifted over to the rumor board....

I think the great thing about Disney is that once you enter the park everyone is basically considered equal. The reason we haven't been back to Universal in 4 years is that we have to pay extra for the FOTL passes and are not willing to spend way too much money to stay on grounds. Disney is great because no matter what your financial status is, everyone has the same chance with the fastpasses. If this changes to more like Universal, I'm not sure we will be coming as much if at all.

There are always rumours about Disney's Fastpass System, Dining Plan Changes, Reservations, etc.

Always good to remember that is all only rumor until Disney announces it.

Which I find so unfair. I think if you pay the park entry fee, you should have access to FP the same as any other paying guest. So many people on this board, myself included, go to Disney a lot, and we always stay on site, so I guess that would work in our favor also...BUT not everyone can do that...and going to Disney for some is a once-in-a-lifetime trip that they saved for eons to be able to go at all. They should not be penalized because they can't afford to stay at the GF, or even onsite at all...I think the FP system works great as it is and I would hate to see it change. I say leave it be and share the magic of fast pass with everyone! I mentioned this to one of the Imagineers who worked on implementing the FP system in the first place when we did Dining with an Imagineer last fall...the rumors of this were already circulating then.

Due respect you can resent it if you like but we (my family) spends a heckuva lot more at DW than most guests. We are DVC members. We own a lot of points and pay a LOT in annual dues. We by PAPs and we do EVERYthing on-property. We go 2-3 times a year. Do I think we deserve some special treatment? You tell me.

As the above poster says, life ain't always fair. Fairness to everyone is called socialism. No thank you. Capitalistic societies are based on the fact that those who spend and make more, get more. Welcome to America. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

I have to agree with the PP. That is what makes America. I'm not a DVC member, and the last time I visited the world was 20 years ago. We are taking the trip that we want to take though, and I truly feel that folks should get what they pay for. Those who are paying $500 or $600 / night for deluxe rooms should get more than those who are paying $100 for a value, and likewise, the folks staying in the value should get more than those who are staying off site.

It would be great if it was for Florida residents. I do believe we should get a break.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Most of us wouldn't be posting here if we didn't have a fondness for WDW. That being said it's not the end of mankind if I or others did not come to WDW. AS the economy tightens further the managers of WDW will need to carefully weigh any new venture that might help or hinder Disney's bottom line. The FP system as currenly run is equally fair to both onsite and offsite guests. Disney's decision to ultimately give enhanced rights to onsite guests may or may not help them make more $$$. I'm sure with all the surveys they do that they already know the answer

Keep in mind that Disney is supposed to take you out of the "real world".

As far as "deserving" anything, I think it is not a matter of "deserving", I think of it as a "get what you pay for" kind of thing.

I don't have a problem with that as long as the separation is not visable to other guests.

I have been to too many places where VIP status is thrown into everyone's face, and others are made to feel like second class citizens when they paid $4000 to stay at a resort compared to $5000. I don't need to frequent an establishment where folks pay $$$$ only to get treated like a serf.

No, I don't. The fact you can afford it and many can't IS a perk. You do get special treatment. You get discounts on park tickets and event tickets and special events are held that people who are not DVC members do not get. I get perks too, as an AP holder, that not everyone gets. I merely said I'd like to see ONE thing---FAST PASS---remain EQUAL and for this you flame me me?

Knock out the FL residents and you've got yourself the makings of a good policy. :thumbsup2

Why knock out FL residents? Just because many of us don't have the need to stay onsite (I live 20 minutes away), why should we be differently? I spend money each and every time I go to Disney, easily hundreds of dollars a year. I realize this doesn't compare to what a family vacationing for a week will spend, but I would hope Disney doesn't forget the benefit that many FL residents give them.

I guess I shouldn't care since we've always stayed onsite and always will but I think FP should stay the same. I think those who stay offsite should be able to have FP too...free of charge. Some people lives minutes away from Disney...should they be punished because they don't need a room onsite???

We went to Six Flags last year and you have to pay for a special "fast pass" and i remember thinking wow that's crazy, good thing Disney is smart and offers them to everyone.

Maybe they could give a special fast pass to onsite guests but still offer the regular fastpass to everyone?

However I think it's great the way it is now and hope they don't change it.

How is this a personal attack? I don't see that at all??? :confused3

I'm not a DVC member and never will be as my family wouldn't go to/doesn't see the value in property at DW. Others don't see the value/wouldn't go to DW at all for any reason....I've been to DW several times and will continue to go- unless the benefits change for the better, I won't pay for deluxes b/c we feel they are a waste of $$$ for our family.

Everyone has to do what they have to do- we all spend our $$ differently. In this world- like it or not- $$$ GETS you things...extra things. I don't see how giving more FPs to DVC members, deluxers, or onsiters as a big issue at all. Why all the hostility to this idea??

DW is no different- in DWs World- onsite gets you EMH, gets you the DDP, gets you reservations before offsite guests (180+10)...deluxes often get you better transport, (monorail), gets you larger rooms, gets you a pool slide, a hot tub, ...the more $$ you spend the more stuff you get. Giving extra FPs is just 1 more thing they could add to the sweeten the pot for onsite guests. :goodvibes

I think it was the "Welcome to America" comment, also, "sorry if that hurts your feelings".

If something written requires that an apology immediately follow, it means that it probably shouldn't have been said. I did find the tone harsh.

Got it :) :thumbsup2

I spose it was written a bit harshly.

Exactly it. All I did was say one thing should remain equal. I didn't say no one should have any perks for staying onsite or being a DVC member or whatever, I just meant FAST PASS. Period. :goodvibes

I meant it faceiously. I really don't care whether it hurt your feelings or not. I'm not into all this PC BS. I was trying to make harsh reality a little nicer than it really is sometimes. So much for that.

In general, I've found that when people say that they don't care if they hurt someones feelings or not, then they have been acting boorishly.

That being said, I was all for the change until I read your 'I deserve it' post. Upon reading it, I realized that no, you don't deserve it. Neither do I. I'll take advantage of it if it's offered to me, but I don't 'deserve' it.

I think that a tiered FP system would be great. If people are willing to pay for perks, why not? I agree with the people who say that Disney is a business, not a charity.

And I respect that you are entitled to your opinion, as I am to my own. :)

I say the Fast Pass system is fine the way it is. So I would not change it to add perks for Resort guests no matter what type of Resort they stay at, or to give more perks for Annual Pass holders, Florida Residents and DVC members.
