Fastpass Plus tidbits

Well, whatever it is I won't be able to take advantage of it because I will be going in Nov of this year. Then taking a very very long break from WDW.

I know at Universal a lot of people get ticked off when they see people skipping the lines because they are staying at the resorts. I have received a lot of evil eyes doing that.

I'd like to add that I don't see a downside for WDW to offer unlimited fastpass to people at the most expensive deluxe resorts (CR, GF, Poly, BC, BWV). They could fill up even more rooms that way.

Really? People were getting angry bc of that? If anything, it only made me decide to stay on-site next time! Although, before I knew what the deal was, I did wonder why people were using the "fastpass" line for the Dr. Seuss Carousel when there was literally no SB line!

Won't the locals be unhappy with this? I am sure most of them don't want to pay extra for FP.

It really depends. The scenario some people on this board think will be fabulous will be absolutely terrible for locals.

I am hopeful it will end being some middle ground that gives a small extra perk to on site guests, but does not completely alienate people who don't plan 180 days out or stay on site. There are just too many Disney first timer who don't do massive amounts of research, but still spend a lot of money in the parks, as well as locals who do last minute trips with APs.

Because they don't look. I never look at the stand-by line when I'm not using it, lol. I just enter the EP (or FP) line.

I also never, ever get dirty looks from anyone. Even if someone wanted to give me one...I'm not bothering to check them out. I'm just going through lines and riding rides.

And when I'm in stand-by, I don't begrudge people in the FP line their FP. That is just crazy.

I've been off the boards for about a year. We planned a trip to a different part of the U.S. this year and I knew that reading the Disboards would just make me want to do Disney instead, so I cut myself off. ;)

Now I see that I'm late to the party - as in, I have no idea what this GenX, Xpass, RFID business is all about. Could someone get me up to speed? Feel free to PM instead of posting here. (I did use the search function but was overwhelmed upon seeing the first few threads that appeared had literally dozens of pages to them. Gulp.)

More than anything, I want to know: What does RFID stand for? Thanks! :goodvibes

It's simple...the GenX, Xpass, and RFID's are integrated now! You can get a FP, if you are a DVC guest, by using your KWIK card. However, it's only good if you go to BBB, or order a BLT. Get it now?

Advance cheduling of fastpass ride entry and use of RFID chips are two completely separate topics.

IMHO each advance fastpass schedule (one associated with each room key) should have a requirement of being activated using an admission ticket that has been used for park entrance but has not been used to fetch fastpasses from machines. Among other things this would prevent one family member from sleeping late and another family member using that fastpass schedule to ride extra times. In additon I think that someone scheduling fastpasses in advance should be denied use of the fastpass machines for some length of time following park entrance, how long depending on how many fastpasses were reserved in advance.

~First of all, I am not "some people", and I said xPass is going to be FABULOUS! And I'm going to keep saying this until "proven" otherwise. I have seen nothing to suggest this would be anything less! :goodvibes

~Secondly, my "scenario" benefits everyone. Those posters who have been genuinely engaged in the great FastPass debates, are fully aware of my "scenario", they don't agree with it, but I still have high respect for them, and I know who they are. I also know the difference between those posters who voice genuine concern, opinions, or questions.

~Any poster who jumps on the bandwagon claiming to know my "scenario" and what I think is fabulous when it is painfully obvious that they have no clue, are "transparent" and have earned a permanent spot on my ignore list!!!!

~I'll see everyone else around in another thread, we'll pick up the conservation again there. :goodvibes

This is not necessarily indicative of what the final outcome may be. During a test phase it makes sense for them to get as many participants as they can to get better data.
~I totally agree. :goodvibes

Since they are moving to RFID turnstiles Its makes sense that all tickets no matter in what form will have a RFID chip.
I totally agree with this, too. :goodvibes

~However, there are several other factors, of which include, Disney's traditional core values and evolving corporate culture, certain trends, certain markets, and other relative data that helped me in forming my opinion.

~Also, I expect Fastpass+ to be free, flexible and fabulous! The name Fastpass+ alone lends credence that this will be the same system "plussed" and updated with more options (for those who want them). The new FP+ incorporates new modern technology, but remains user friendly to those who prefer to utilize FastPass the old way.

~Disney will not force everyone to make advance reservations for rides, nor will they exclude or penalize an entire segment for participating, based on a "tiered" system, there will be equal access for all, with the "possible" exception of the wristbands and maybe the VIP seating for shows and fireworks, and even that's a BIG maybe.

~Finally, I am a guest who visits Disney once a year, who only stays Deluxe CL, all of the wild rumors out there benefit my demographic the most!!! So, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain, if I were to buy into the rumors. But, I really think those "resort only", and especially the "deluxe only" rumors are just absurd, I'm sorry but that's my opinion.

~These rumors are are just too extreme, and I really feel bad for anyone who gets worked up prematurely, based solely upon those silly rumors. I've had this opinion from day one!!! I am very excited about the new FastPass, don't worry, it's going to be fabulous!!! :goodvibes

I can't say I am over exited about the new FastPass system. I already hate to plan months in ahead where I am going to eat on that specific evening. And now I would have to do that for rides too?

I can understand it is great for people coming for a couple days to maximize the time, but for me, that is coming 16+ days, would like going to WDW without making extensive planning for everything.

I hope that this doesn't end with that all Stand-By lines are removed, and everything has to be planned. Actually a theme park needs people standing in line, otherwise the guest will be filling the footpaths too much.

But maybe I am wrong, maybe it will turn out great.

Not if Disney only gives them to concierge level guests.

Also not if Disney only gives them to guests named Gertrude or Stanley.

Again, that post was in response to someone who theorized that FP+ would be available to all onsite guests for access to all rides, ala Universal.

So, your saying anyone's opinion that is contrary to yours is "absurd" and "silly"? You honestly think it is far fetched that Disney wants to make money off of it's new system? I'll tell you what is absurd; the notion that a company would spend 1 Billion dollars on something and then just give it to EVERYONE for free. Not only is that "absurd" but it is naive. JMHO, it will be only for resort guests and/or for an additional price above what you pay for a ticket.

The poster you quoted said they only stay Deluxe CL. If anyone's going to benefit from FP+, it's a good bet they'll be taken care of first. That explains their optimism right there.

~LOL. In the second paragraph, I've written in plain English, that I have the utmost respect for those posters who don't agree with me, they already know this. I've talked about this ad naseum, so I'm not going into details, yet again. But, just because a product or service is not POS (point of sale) does not mean it's "free." OMG, just because you don't pay for something upfront, "À la carte" doesn't mean you're not paying for it. The "notion" that Disney can only profit from POS is "silly" & "absurd".

~Are you paying an upfront fee for the Fanstasyland expansion? How much are you going to have to pay for the Seven Dwarf's mine coaster? Is the new Dumbo interactive queue only for Deluxe CL children? Will the new Be Our Guest restaurant be offered to Deluxe CL guests, while everyone else has to dine at Gaston's Tavern? How much does it cost you out of pocket to make online ADR's? How much do you pay to check in online? How much does it cost you each time a hotel is refurbed? Is FREE dining actually "free", lol? Do you pay for Magical Express? FastPass is no different!

~FastPass is an essential working component of Disney's operating infrastructure, any costs associated with upgrading and maintaining this system will likely be rolled into park admissions. FastPass+ is a system upgrade, as the parks and guest attendance have grown substantially since it's original inception 13 years ago. The FastPass system is being updated to accommodate this growth and utilize the newer technology that's available. The only POS costs that will be associated with this upgrade will be for the RFID bracelets and maybe some priority seating, that's my "naive" opinion.

~And honestly, your "opinion" is hardly groundbreaking, you're just repeating what *everyone* else has been saying for several months now. Also, most of the people who believe that FastPass+ will be for resort guests only, also believe that this will exclude DVC guests, as they are categorized differently from resort guests.

~I've heard this all before, the only difference is those posters who disagree with me (and yes, they poke fun at me, lol) have my total respect. I adore them and I love to debate with them because they are class acts, unlike some poster(s) who are just plain rude, tacky, and lack basic comprehension skills, that's what I have "ignore" for!!!

~The poster quoted above and I, are much like "vinegar" & "oil". We never agree on anything, but I think he's a class act! RescueRanger take notes!!! :goodvibes

Your optimism is almost infectious. I have too much of a skeptical streak for me to be saved though. ;) :goodvibes
