Fastpass Plus tidbits

So does this mean FP+..or FP at all will be limited to onsite guests?

It sounds like they are going to the system Universal uses: all on-site guests automatically get fast passes for all rides, while other guests have to pay a daily fee.

All this means is that the Contemporary got new locks. Thats it.

It just like when AoA got the RFID locks first everyone was like "well there you have it its not just going to be for the Deluxes". No it just meant AoA needed 3,500 new locks sets so we might as well install the new ones.

~I seriously doubt it, lol. When the RFID turnstiles were tested back in November at Epcot, Disney had the CM's put RFID "stickers" on all of the tickets including AP's. :goodvibes

Since they are moving to RFID turnstiles Its makes sense that all tickets no matter in what form will have a RFID chip.

Why does everyone think that this new system revolves around RFID to the point that everytime they do anything RFID related everyone wants to make broad inferences on how FP+, xpass or whatever has to be like "this".

RFID is just a quicker more robust way to read the number off your ticket or KTTW card thats it. It does make FP+, xpass or whatever a little easier but thats it. They could do FP+, xpass or whatever right now with the tech they have.

Actually I've been avoiding the threads about FP and FP+ because I get tired of cutting through the arguments to find the facts. I thought this time someone had more concrete info. So no...I didn't know.

POR got them aswell in the re-furb I think. Someone posted about how its 'easier' to open if your hands are full .... which, of course, confused me. I'm thinking if my hands aren't free I have to do some kinda 'body-wave' infront of the door - that would not be pretty :sad2:

There are? Wow, I've often wondered this but thought there would be more off-site guests. Thanks for that :) No, seriously.

Actually, he's saying that there are far more onsite guests at WDW than there are onsite guests at UO. I think there are only something like 1800ish rooms between the 3 hotels at UO.

Oh! Thanks for clearing that up ... as you'll see from my above post, I am easily confused but that can be fun :teeth:

I worked somewhere that used rfid cards and I kept mine in my wallet, I could just walk up to the door and give it a hip check.

From what I heard, you would pick a certain number of attractions in advance and schedule your fastpass time for them. From the test, I believe there were 2 lists of attractions in MK and you could pick four from each list to schedule. My guess is it will be connected to your resort reservation. They may continue the current system for non-resort guests, they may get whatever is left. Another rumor is that the number of choices you get is based on the level of your resort.

I've been off the boards for about a year. We planned a trip to a different part of the U.S. this year and I knew that reading the Disboards would just make me want to do Disney instead, so I cut myself off. ;)

Now I see that I'm late to the party - as in, I have no idea what this GenX, Xpass, RFID business is all about. Could someone get me up to speed? Feel free to PM instead of posting here. (I did use the search function but was overwhelmed upon seeing the first few threads that appeared had literally dozens of pages to them. Gulp.)

More than anything, I want to know: What does RFID stand for? Thanks! :goodvibes

Not plausible. There are far, far more WDW resort guests than UO resort guests for this to work.

I heard it will be tiered. Value gets one per attraction, Moderate gets 2 per attraction, Deluxe gets unlimited. For a non resort stay you would be allowed to buy it - the same level as value - one per attraction. That is what I heard from someone who works there.

A new FP system--and that's about all we know. Other than that RFID is Radio Frequency IDentification, used to call out shoplifters all over the world. ;)

You heard this, I heard that, she heard something else, and he heard something else again. It's all hearsay--literally.

The poster I quoted suggested it would be for all onsite guests for all rides. I guarantee that will not be the case.

Well, whatever it is I won't be able to take advantage of it because I will be going in Nov of this year. Then taking a very very long break from WDW.

I know at Universal a lot of people get ticked off when they see people skipping the lines because they are staying at the resorts. I have received a lot of evil eyes doing that.

I'd like to add that I don't see a downside for WDW to offer unlimited fastpass to people at the most expensive deluxe resorts (CR, GF, Poly, BC, BWV). They could fill up even more rooms that way.

That makes the most sense to me too. Disney can fill in empty time slots with walk-ups, which means that Disney can continue to advertise the FassPass program even if no time slots are ultimately available. From what little bit that's been rumored about FP+, if traditional FP is kept around I don't think Disney would limit it to non-resort guests only; there would be too much confusion and Disney would want to maximize FP / FP+ system usage for possible dinning and merchandise sales.

For anyone who participated in the birthday or the give-a-day promotion and chose the fastpass option......... think along those lines.

My guess is by the time it's done, we'll all go "Really? That's it?". Eh. Whatever.

Those promotions had the rides grouped and you could choose one out of each group. They will include groups of attractions that you don't really want to use this long-awaited opportunity on. Because there just aren't enough spots to go around.

The issue is that those resorts have more rooms total than Universal does. Even with the increased number of theme parks at Disney versus the Universal complex, to keep FP fast with unlimited use for Disney Deluxe Resorts, you would have to remove FP privileges for all other groups. Come to think of it, that would be the only way Disney could convince me to spring for a Deluxe.

Edit: Here's the numbers: 6,789 at Disney Deluxe Resorts (excluding Fort Wilderness cabins, the Swan/Dolphin, and DVC properties) versus 2,400 rooms at Universal.

Won't the locals be unhappy with this? I am sure most of them don't want to pay extra for FP.

I heard that the new Uni hotel won't have the EP. Is that right?

I don't know...but I think people not staying in WDW hotels will, at best, have to pay for FPs. And I think Disney is going to make it all harder than it was before...not easier, like I'd hoped.
