FastPass+ must be coming soon

With the Boardwalk opening back up and some shows being added back to the parks, the odds are that there is going to be a capacity increase in the near future. As capacity increases, social distancing becomes harder to do. Not only that the lines will inevitably get longer...so. I'm not saying it is coming back, or that it isn't. But it does seem from the outside looking in, that things are slowly starting to change.

Not to.mention that Disney started hiring even more cast members yesterday. Some of those postings were for attractions staff.

Having been to WDW for several onsite stays since they reopened in July, Disney would be nuts to bring anything like FP+ back until ride and show restrictions are lifted.

For example, this is what the line for Slinky Dog Dash is like most mornings.

Since I haven't been to the parks since Covid, can you explain the CURRENT ride restrictions? What popular rides are most impacted, and how are the restrictions implemented? Thanks!

Dan

Rides such as Toy Story Mania and Peter Pan's Flight are operating just about at full capacity. This is because you typically don't have strangers sitting right next to you.

Rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Tower of Terror are severely restricted. For example, the last time we road POTC, only 2 groups were being allowed on each boat, leaving most rows empty.

At one point, rollercoasters (such as Slinky Dog Dash) were severely impacted. More recently, it's my recollection that they now are seating all rows. (Previously, they were leaving some rows empty.)

Really, the best thing to do is look at wait times on My Disney Experience to get an idea of what wait times are like.

You get some strange results. For example, I've seen It's a Small World have a longer wait time than Space Mountain.

I have an upcoming trip for mid-May and when I just clicked on my plans there is now FASTPASS + with Start Now! button. It doesn't do anything yet but it must be coming soon. It wasn't there this afternoon.View attachment 570283
I wish it comes soon!

I hope it doesn't come back before my trip in early June. I'm looking forward to a trip where I don't have to plan out every moment of our trip. Of course, if FastPass comes back, I will utilize it so I don't have to wait in long standby lines, but I hope I don't have to.

It was a glitch. Don’t get your hopes up as they need that que space for line control. It’s not some new rollout or test as they don’t need it with current capacity.

Yes, I know someone who had a Traditions date for late-March 2020 who got an e-mail Friday, so they are definitely beginning to hire.

Personal Speculation: wdw will increase capacity and bring back free FP (because they won’t get many repeat guests if every ride is 90 plus minutes wait, and though readers here would pay for FP, many won’t)... also think the mask wearing will shift from required to recommended some time this summer.

at least that is my wish!!:tink:

This is absolute speculation, but I don’t believe that Disney will relax the mask requirement until children are authorized for the vaccine. Once that happens (maybe October), then I think that Disney will change masks from required to recommended.

There is supposed to be an announcement tomorrow regarding changes to the CDC's guidelines on masks. Link to CNN article I wonder how/when this might change things for Disney, if at all. I really don't mind wearing a mask, but gosh, I would love to not have to do it outdoors and be able to stroll around eating and drinking again. That was the major drawback to me, personally. For vaccinated people in particular, the risk is incredibly low outdoors. But, how would that even be enforced? I know a lot of states are lifting outdoor mask mandates, but I'm not sure Disney is ready for that, given the crowd levels and number of kids.
this is sort of the important thing...how would Disney even enforce this? they wouldn't...they'll lift mask mandates once the CDC says its ok

Oh good, more mask talk.

LOL, you're right, sorry! This isn't really the thread for it. I saw people talking about masks and changes, and then this came right over my newsfeed, so...but don't want to derail the discussion. I know people have strong feelings.

I think the only way they can bring back Fastpass is if the reduce distancing. Right now some of the lines snake through what was their fastpass lines. I know there’s been talk of the CDC changing distancing guidelines to be 3 ft instead if 6, but I don’t think that’s actually been changed yet.
