FastPass+ in September: Rides or Fireworks?

Hello!
I am going to WDW in September with my boyfriend, and we recently made our FastPass+ reservations. Because I am used to visiting during peak seasons, I automatically opted for earlier ride times for popular attractions, leaving the rest of the day open for additional FastPasses.

Over the last couple of days, however, my boyfriend and I have discussed the option of getting FastPass+ reservations for preferred fireworks viewing locations (Illuminations & Wishes; we have Fantastic seating with our ADR at Mama Melrose), and leaving most of the ride wait times up to chance with standby.

If you were going during an off-peak season such as September, what would you do? Would you reserve FastPasses for popular rides as if wait times were going to be long, or would you guarantee a preferred viewing location for fireworks and "gamble" with ride wait times?

Thanks!

As a huge pyro fan skip fp and stand n middle around statue. GEt for pyro if u can't make it on top of btw

I am interested in thoughts on this, too. We will be there this September and I pick FP tomorrow.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. There aren't really lines in September and there aren't as many people to fight for firework spots. Personally I'd use the FP+ on rides but I usually wind up watching Wishes from adventureland or frontierland so I can do more rides since everyone is standing on main street at that time.

We decided not to do FP+ for the FW and we did not regret it. We opted to use the FP+ for rides and we were able to get excellent spots for the fireworks. There are so many excellent locations. And with the FP+, it's not like a reserved seat. it's juts an area that they rope off for those with FP+. So you could be in the FP+ section and still end up being a 6'6 guy with his kid on his shoulders, standing in front of you.

We're going in Sept also and I'm planning to use a FP one night for the Main St Electrical Parade. I've read that the FP spot for Wishes is not actually the best, because it's off to the side. Check out the FP+ info thread by mesaboy2 (I think that's the correct screenname). There's a lot of great information in his first post, including rating the FP viewing locations for the parades/fireworks.
