I've booked a week in Orlando at an offsite hotel with the intent of spending my time at WDW. I got a great deal for the hotel, which is the main reason for being offsite. Pre-purchased tickets aren't discounted and have a shipping fee, so I'll buy my tickets at the gate.
I noticed that if you book an onsite hotel, you get to book FP+ 60 days in advance, and that the old fastpass system has been discontinued. Has this affected availability of FP+ booking for those staying offsite?
I intend to be at WDW as early as possible each day, probably a little bit before they open, so I'd be able to book my FP+ right away that morning.
I figured I'd ask because if it's a case of having to stay at a Disney hotel to make proper full use of the fastpass+ system (as in all the major attractions are booked up to the point that there's no way to FP+ them the same day, even at 9 am sharp), I might push the trip out to next year and do other parks in Orlando this year.
I'm a little concerned that if the most popular attractions are fully FP+ booked days in advance that I'll need to spend hours in standby lines per attraction.
