Fastpass/Fastpass+ Mutually Exclusive?

Here's what worries me. It says that the FP+ can only be used at one park per day, and that if you use the FP+ you can't use the regular FP. That is really going to make it less convenient for those of us that like to park hop.

This was my thought too. If that's the case - then I don't see us using FP+.

Sounds like Fastpass plus = big headache and less magic. And you thought getting and planning all your ADRs was a pain in the bu#t.

yep..which means we personally wont use it!

I found these parts to be very interesting:

You may make FastPass+ selections for one park per day.

and

Magic Your Way ticket holders may make FastPass+ selections beginning 60 days prior to day of use. The selection window may vary for other admission tickets or passholders.

Here's the implications I see from this:

1) This will really discourage park hopping amongst those who use the FP+ system. Not sure if that's what Disney really wants, as hoppers make them more money than base tickets.

2) I am guessing that passholders will be able to reserve farther in advance than regular ticket holders.

I was excited about the possibility of a much easier park entry with an RFID card or band. But, since converting to that means I won't be able to use any FP system as I am a local passholder, I guess I will stick with my old fashioned paper ticket and use the regular FPs. Sounds like that's the better deal, anyway.

I was just about to post the same thing. If you use FP+ and want to park hop, you're out of luck for the rest of your day.

This. Yes.

If I waive fastpass for all hopping for my whole trip outside the fastpass+ then I suspect we'll pass-- and fast!

Interesting. So when does the fastpass+ deal officially roll out then? Does anyone know? Does Disney even know? lol

Asked and partially answered above--no one knows.

man, what a dilemma. We were planning to renew our passes for our trip in March, but not if it doesn't get us the "most" out of the fastpass+ system. We'll buy whatever tickets give us the best experience, but we can't do that if we don't know what that is!

We're also bringing some friends (a family) who have never been to WDW and who won't be buying annual passes (this trip anyway, lol)so how the heck do we vacation together if we don't all have the same amount of fast pass opportunities? What if annual passes get 2 FP but their tickets get 4? Or none? Or any regular fastpass either? Will all members of a group have to have the same ticket types or the same vacation/room package? Does this completely shut out anyone with a Room Only reservation? (meaning, Annual Passholders?)

Very unhappy and worried about our March trip. Don't like the uncertainty! Surely Disney knows what they are planning to do, let us know already! Just seriously unhappy it feels like we can't truly plan our trip that is only 87 days away (only know the days because the WDW website told me, lol) because Disney is apparently going to change the entire way they run the parks/rides....are they going to give folks any lead time at all to plan? :confused3 I can't believe that I can't even buy our tickets now because of this uncertainty. I also would not have invited our friends to come with us if we had known we wouldn't be able to use fastpass anymore.

So disappointed. :guilty:

Agreed! We're renting points for an April trip and I was just about to buy park hoppers from a non-Disney company... but now I wonder if that will exclude us from something worthwhile.

I feel like I'm playing a game without knowing the rules!

To quote a sage response from about 18 months ago...

"Just leave the FP system, the heck, ALONE!"

So, my understanding is that if my family decides to use the FP+ system and we are only allotted 2 passes each due to traveling at a peak time, once we used those 2 passes we would ride standby the rest of the day? We are visiting the week before Easter and are a party of 12. Not being able to maximize the number of fast passes we can pull, while moving 12 people thru the parks from standby line to line doesn't sound like Disney magic. I see tears, more likely from me, than the kids.

That would seem to be what the fine print says. :(

I have not read any further than this ~

•In order to deliver the seamless and personalized experience of the Park Experience, we utilize radio frequency technology-enabled cards or other devices ("RF Devices"). Depending on the Experience benefits you have purchased, you and each member of your Experience Party will be issued a unique RF Device (similar to a Key to the World card), which allows us to identify the individual using the RF Device and the benefits associated with that individual.

Anyone know what that little blurb is all about? :confused3

Show me your papers and we will treat you in accordance with the depth of your pockets.

Yeah, that's always been the case at Disney. ;)

I agree with Robo. They need to leave Fastpass as is the heck alone. Reading those new terms, I won't be renewing my AP when it expires.

Depending on details that come out once FP+ is fully rolled out, we may be finding a different place to spend our vacation dollars. As far as I'm concerned, Disney is taking all the fun out of the disney experience.

Yes, I know this has been re-hashed over and over, so I'll stop.

Ugh.

It makes no sense that they are basically discouraging park hopping. Why would they want to lose money? I know that if it is a choice between the two, I am completely content with the regular FP system. This sounds way too complicated, way too restricted and less of an advantage than the old system.

I hope they give us the choice because if staying on site automatically means that we have to use FP+ (because your ticket is on the RF card) then we would likely not stay on site.
