So when people complain about it I really don't blame them...I see their point.
Yeah -- just like line jumping...

Oh sure, because CM's have been to known to announce to crowds of people that line jumping was okay.
You're proving my point. In states where you cannot turn right on red, there is not a sign posted saying "No Right on Red" (such signs do exist in some places, but mostly at specific intersections in states that DO normally allow it). Does that mean it is NOT a rule and I CAN turn right on red since it's not posted? No. It is still a rule even though it is not "printed" at the intersection. Sure, it might be printed in a driver training manual somewhere, but unless you are getting a driver license in that state, you won't see where it's printed and the only way you will know not to turn right on red is because you DID hear it from someone. Just as many people heard here or from CMs that you could use FP until park close even though it wasn't printed on the FP.
Even if late FP users are the cause of the change in policy, it doesn't mean any of them did anything wrong.
Tikiman did not actually say why it was changing. He does say, "Unfortunately with that flexibility came abuse." Of course, the term "abuse" depends on which side of the lagoon you are on, but he actually doesn't say that is the reason for the change.
Interesting, how else you can understand "abuse" in this situation?
How did this thread about "Animal House" quotes get derailed by a Fastpass discussion?
I was referring to the fact that while some call it abuse, others do not.
My main point is that he did not specifically say the change was due to abuse, nor did he say it was "rampant" as the PP claimed.
OK, I misunderstood you. Is there a link to this article, not trying to proove you wrong... in this case, just want to read it and cannot find it online for some reason.
Very bottom of this:

Basically just repeating the original rumored change, including the reported leeway on either side of the window.
Okay, while I didn't quote what he said "verbatim". It all means the same. Abuse is defined as to use wrongly or improperly; misuse: to abuse one's authority or to treat in a harmful, injurious, or offensive way:. Semantics. He said, "Unfortunately with that flexibility came abuse". That's his way of informing his readers that Disney now considers the late fastpass to be abuse. So much, to the point where they are "retraining" CM's how to effectively enforce FP's. And he certainly didn't say it was because of XPass.I was referring to the fact that while some call it abuse, others do not.

I haven't read all 105 pages of this thread, but I felt I had to weigh in, so forgive me if it's been said before.
When you get a Fastpass, you know the time window it will be good for. It is on the sign above the machine. And it is printed on the Fastpass itself. It doesn't say to come back after 10:30, it says to come back between 10:30 and 11:30. If the time frame currently being offered doesn't meet your needs, go elsewhere and come back later.
Now, Disney has routinely allowed late returns on Fastpasses. People who took advantage of this were not abusing the system, they were taking advantage of Disney allowing an exception to the rule. The fact that the exception was allowed routinely doesn't make it, in itself, a rule. Meaning, Disney is perfectly within it's right to stop allowing the exception at any time without providing any sort of explanation. That Disney announced that they would stop extending the exception is a courtesy to those who knew that late returns had typically been allowed to avoid disappointment.

But the evidence is in X-Pass's favor as far as I and many others are concerned.
Indeed.
Some fairly well-regarded insiders on other boards have said pretty explicitly that it's for Xpass. I don't want to throw names around -- but if you read, for example, the threads at WDW Magic (if you haven't already), you'll see some pretty strong indications that it's true.
But oddly enough, no "Animal House" quotes.
