Fastpass Enforcement coming?

I did not read thru all the pages of this fiasco, but I have a question (that may have been asked already).

What did you people do BEFORE FastPasses???

A video camera will be very useful to have that day, I agree... ;)

Surely, you don't think, FP is the sole reason for my comment? Many things have changed, under Iger's reign, that I don't feel are positive. He's a bean counter...nothing more. There's an entire thread.. Disney's downhill slide. I was merely responding to the post, regarding "moaning, groaning, etc, but everyone will continue to support Disney".

Actually, my personal feeling is FP will no longer be "free". So in this sense, another piece of magic will be gone.

:sad2:
drama queeen much?

Did you read the above post, before you called me names? Guess, I've moaned and groaned...oh yes, and whined, over several things, that are important to our visits. We made up our minds months ago. Disney's off the list for a while...not even renewing our APs. We've visited consistently for 30+ years..very frequently. We've finally reached our limit. I'm backing my complaints up with my vacation $$$$.

Does that make me a drama queen?:confused3

I find this change very disturbing. It will really hurt those who take the time to really plan. As a family of four we always collected as many fast passes as possible in groups of three to use later. It is Disney's policy to allow the entire group into the fastpass line if only one person is missing a fastpass (just say you lost one). this combined with the late entry allowed us to increase our fastpass capability by as much as 33%. At least we will still be able to use our refillable mugs in the parks at quick service locations. Just complain loudly that that you were told you could 20 years ago when you bought them (it may take a few locations, but eventually someone will acquiesce). Also, we can still save money by parking at Downtown Disney and taking the buses to save on parking fees (I recommend borrowing someones handicap placard to save time looking for a good space). Perhaps we can try the baby-swap routine alternating between our 17 year old and our 15 year old. See there is still magic to be had, you just have to plan harder!

Parking at DTD works great for AK, but why not just park at Beach Club and Contemporary when going to the other parks. Tell the guard you have an ADR and you can park the whole day for free! You'll see us there using are double stroller (carrying our 10 and 12 year-olds) as a battering ram to get through the resort guests on our way to the parks. ;)

Here now and so far one CM at a Fastpass line told me that beginning March 7 we wouldn't be able to come in after the end time. So far, we have not made it during our window once. Things just always happen it seems.

*This* is the part that does scare me. I couldn't care less about fastpass window enforcing. But the REASON, that they plan on bringing this "xpass" is what scares me. Either they'll pull a universal and have a payable front-of-the-line, which I would *hate*. *OR* They have a "resort guest preferred" fastpass, which I would hate ( and i DO stay on-site, I just don't think it's right ), OR even if it's just to make fastpass available to book online ahead of time... I think this would make the whole thing an insane free-for-all... just like dining. if you don't book your fastpasses 3 months in advance, you don't get in the fastpass line oh! And don't forget to micro-manage your attractions visits down to the second so you can make all your fastpass times...

And when you put the two systems together, oh boy! Wake up and be online at 6am to get the perfect lunch time at Le Cellier, but then you sleep in a bit on the day you can book FPs and all you can get for Soarin' are times that conflict so now you have to choose between lunch and skipping the ridiculous standby line for Soarin'. Or book your Fantasmic dining package at 180 out because you only have one day for Studios and don't want to spend an hour of it in line to see the show without the package, but come time to book FPs the only times available for TSM conflict either with that reservation or with the show itself...

Seems like a lot of potential for headaches there, and for having to choose between rides and the other elements like entertainment and dining that make a Disney vacation something more than just another amusement park.

Yes exactly. I've already been the harbinger of doom for friends and family who book vacations ( without talking to me first ) and are stunned when I tell them that they really should book SOME dining ahead of time and have at least a "basic" plan. At least dinner is understandable... Parks are crowded, restaurants will be booked up. You want to eat at a certain place, make a reservation. This is pretty standard in the travel industry in general. But if you start needing to book and reserve every facet of your vacation ahead of time... doesn't leave much room for "vacationing".

We really do not know anything about XPass yet. It may be a hell, it may be a blessing, who knows. However there are plenty of people who know in which order they want to do rides year in advance, pretty much by following touring plans.
I am not a fan of planning but to be honest if I will not have to run around park for FPs and just book even if it is in the morning I can learn to love this system. As for not being free, if it will be good I do not mind to pay, if not, I do not mind to stand in line, right now I use FPs and still wait in lines for other rides, so not much will change for me.

Remember, Disney was also different, BEFORE i.e."free dining" and BEFORE WDW doubled the number of on site hotels.

Jim Hill Media is starting to report some of the aspects with more articles to come.

I started a thread about it HERE.
