Fastpass and tickets?

Curious can one person enter with 5 tickets (so swipe one ticket) but use 5 tickets for fastpass? Or do all tickets need to be swiped at the entrhance to be usable for FP?

We have a situation where we are trying to find a 3h window for a mako makeover for the kids but still wanted to optimise Fastpasses access during the evening when the whole family can come to TDS.

The tickets have to be activated at the turnstile or they will not work at the FP or lottery machines. Maybe you can activate the tickets then split up?

That's what I thought. Thanks for confirming. Decided to find the time from a non-Disney day instead. Just too much to do at TDL and TDS to skimp.
