Fastpass and AP's

I'm usually the one ANSWERING people's Disneyland questions, but here's one I haven't ever had to deal with before:

Can you use an AP to get fastpasses even if it hasn't been used for entry yet on a certain day? We're going to DL for a week while my daughter has finals at her college in Irvine. If we have her AP with us, can we get her Fastpasses along with ours to use later in the day after we've picked her up at school?

I believe it has to have been use at one of the parks before it can be used for FPs but I'm not 100% sure.

No. Once my FILs AP wasn't scanned properly at the gates and didn't work at the FP machine. A CM actually took the AP from DH (the FP runner) and he had to go get his dad because they wouldn't turn it over to anyone ełse. They also had to go back to the gate to get it rescanned.

My AP wasn't scanning properly one day either - they said I had to go to guest services to get it fixed when I left and gave me a temporary FP card that looked like a normal admittance card to use in the meantime. Based on that I would say no...

It's okay to get WOC fastpasses for people (if you're staying in a Disney hotel and can go early) even if they haven't checked into a park yet, right?

Unfortunately no They will have to be activated at one of the parks in order to get a WOC as well.

When we were there last month, one of the members of our party got a late start. The rest of us collected FP's. When we redeemed them that evening, we asked if one more could join us in line. We didn't have any problems. If the CM said no, one of us would have just sat out but they were all nice about it.

This is a great tip! Not guaranteed to work, but you got some pixie dust, and perhaps the OP will too!

We got some similar pixie dust a year ago. DW and I got FPs for Space first thing in the AM. Our niece, who lives in Santa Monica, joined us late, around 11AM. She got a Space FP, but it was for much later. We tried out Space anyway, and pointed out to the CMs that two of the FPs were valid, but the 3rd one wasn't valid yet. They passed us through anyway. I'd suggest having your daughter pick up FPs whenever she can, and then try the FP lines and politely ask if your daughter can join you. It's likely to work.

No, you cannot, it has to be scanned at one of the parks that day. Please note that while the two parks FP systems are not connected, if the pass is scanned at either park, you can get FPs at both parks.

So for example, your entire party wants to go into Disneyland at opening and DCA opens two hours later, one member of the party can take everyone's tickets over to DCA and get a FP for WOC, even though only one of the tickets was scanned at DCA, the rest were still scanned in that day.

If for some reason, your pass is not working to get a FP, the CM at the attraction, upon verifying that it is indeed your ticket can give your a FP for that attraction. With the old APs it was easy to verify, it had your picture on it. I had once where the machine said my ticket was not used for admission that day, this was with the old style AP, as I pointed out to the CM, I obviously am there, so my pass was obviously used to enter the park. It was the first time that CM had seen this message from the machine and we both had a good laugh about it, but it does show that the pass must be used to enter the park to get a FP.

Oooh that happened to me once last year. I entered the park and went to get a Space Mountain FP and it said that my ticket had not been activated. Although in my case, when I asked the CM at the front of the ride, he didn't give me a FP. He told me to walk back to the front of the park to the turnstiles and let them know. I did, and they had to scan the bar code on my AP again to make sure it was activated. It was kind of annoying to be honest :-/ I guess it just didn't scan properly the first time when I entered the park.

If you don't want to try a workaround, then depending on how much running you want to do, how late your daughter will be arriving (and staying) and how busy the parks will be, you could each "sacrifice" a slot to get her FPs. For instance, you come to the parks and all of you get Star Tours FPs, then you all get Space Mountain FPs, then you all get an Indy FPs. Once Indy's window opens, you can double back and use 1 of your tickets to get another Star Tours FP, one ticket to get another Space Mountain FP, and 1 ticket to get another Indy FP. You can then use all the FPs together way later in the day.

If there are 2 WoC shows and it's not too busy, you can most likely get FPs together even if it's 2 or 3 PM. (Quite possibly later than that, but I can't promise that.)

Maybe, though in some cases, they will sieze that AP that isn't yours until the actual holder claims it.

It may be risky to scam your way into a park like that.

What I was in a similiar situation, I asked how my friend that was coming later could get the same show/color show pass as me. The CM at the FP machines asked a CM near her who hand made me another Show Pass with my show and color. It may be an exception, but it was no problem, quick and easy.
