fastest way to Sanibel?

hi All!
My family is heading back to Disney for a New Years Eve trip. We will be flying into mco on the 26th and driving to Sanibel, returing to Disney World on the 31st to spend a few days before we have to fly back.
what is the fastest way to drive to Sanibel?
I-4 to I-75?? or I-4 to Hwy 17??
using Hwy 17 is the shortest route but I wonder if its faster staying on the Interstate (I like to drive fast too!).

I-4 to 75 would be my suggestion. That is all highway driving. The other way is through little towns with reduced speeds and stoplights.

We did both routes earlier this month (also flew into MCO, spent 5 days at Sanibel and then 5 days at Disney). 4 to 75 was longer, imo. Definitely more miles. 17 moves pretty well for most of the stretch but it is really weird at the end, how our GPS had us get back to 4 (the truckers were doing it too, so it wasn't just us). I do recommend that you don't follow mapquest or our gps, which take you the super-long way through Ft Myers into Sanibel. Instead, exit 75 at Ft Myers airport (but go west) - that's a much faster, more direct route to the bridge to Sanibel. If your GPS or mapping system doesn't come up with that route, PM me and I'll dig out the details for you.

One of each! I think I am leaning towards taking 17 down to 75 then south to RSW. I am very familiar with the roads from RSW to sanibel. Does anyone think it would be significantly faster another route? We will be leaving MCO around 5:30 pm on Friday Dec 26th.
