Fastest way from Matterhorn to BTMRR?

In my fanatical pre-planning ritual:sick: (I wonder if there is this much visualization in the minds of the superbowl players before the game?) I am plotting my strategic routes. DS7 wants to ride the Matterhorn first then thinks he is ready to try BTMRR. (he has alway been afraid of fast rides but loved Goofy's barnstorming at WDW last year, and doesn't want the "kiddie rides any more".

so what the best/fast route to take?

I think the two paths are about the same length, but you can either cut through the castle area and there is a path that will lead you to Frontierland, then you can head towards BTMMR. The other way is to cut through Fantasyland then go between Big Thunder Ranch and BTMMR and go in the back way.

Again, I think both paths are about the same distance.

Well, the one cutting through the castle/going through Frontierland's official entrance is probably faster, but BTMRR never really gets crowded until later in the morning. The other route that goes past Big Thunder Ranch seems to be a common place for CMs to be passing out Dream FPs (although you never actually know). If I were you, I would take the back route and hope.

I vote for the back route too. Once you get through fantasy land there isn't much of a crowd to get through going the back way.

BTW, my 6.5 yo son LOVED BTMRR!! One of his faves! I bet your son will too!

I agree that BTMRR doesn't need to be your second ride. Might want to knock Alice & the Toad first.....two great, but slow loading rides that you would pass by on the way to BTMRR (if inclined).

fwiw...I think the trail that the parade uses (between the Matterhorn & Alice's bathrooms) to the Hub & then thru Frontierland would be quicker. Which means I would stop at SM for FPs & then ride Buzz twice after riding the Matterhorn twice (both sides) & before hopping on BTMRR (twice) :thumbsup2

I bet one our techie people will figure out the steps. :)

I'm thinking the back way, maybe we'll get those Dream passes. (but not holding my breath).

I agree it doesn't need to be done that early, But he only has a few rides he really wants. Those two and the tea cups, then on to his real love- Toon town by 9. Were will meet up with my other little tyke- DS4.

Just an FYI on the back route, it goes past/through a smoking area. Apart from the Tomorrowland smoking area (which I hear is no more?) it's the worst for me to get through, b/c it's so open and the smoke just wafts everywhere.

So if anyone's very sensitive or asthmatic, it's good to know.

Hopefully early in the AM smoking won't be too much of an issue....

I would also vote for the back route. The way the queue is set up for BTMRR, you would better off going the back rout IMO, because I think that the entrance for the queue is closer to that side. :confused3

I would also keep my fingers crossed for a Dream Pass going that direction!!! :thumbsup2

Got it! Might i suggest:

- Matterhorn twice (both sides :thumbsup2 )
- Teacups (if no line....do it before BTMRR).
- Walk thru the castle to Frontierland to BTMRR (the entrance is just past the Zocolo restaurant)
- BTMRR (twice if there's time).
- The EXIT dumps out on the back way (& look for the dream squad there)...hang a right back into Fantasyland.
- If you've got a few minutes to kill you can hop on Pinocchio or SnowWhite prior to your Toontown 9am reservation.

Have fun. :hippie:

Thanks,
That's sorta my ride plan. (unless after the first Matterhorn my boy has no more need for speed.:scared1: )

Just a note on this, if you were thinking about it, from my understanding, there are no more smoking areas in DL nor in the resort. For anyone who smokes, they must leave the resort to smoke, like across the street leave.

HTH!!

We were just there Sunday (7/13), and quite a few people were smoking in the smoking area-early in the am, as well. Quite smelly for me since I am pregnant, and have a super-human sense of smell.

As far as I know that is NOT true. They just last month relocated the smoking area that was in Tomorrowland near the Train Station to the old Motor Boat Cruise dock across from the Matterhorn.

We had a great time. after some initial problems held us up for 15 minutes (see separate post) hound you were psychic.

We did Matterhorn (both sides)
tea cups - no line
took the back route and did BTMRR twice.:cool1:

BTW we did not encounter any smokers, either in the morning or again around 11 pm.

:thumbsup2

My DS 9 loves the Matterhorn 2 step & the BTMRR 2 step (or if no line which is often the case early, we'll ride the "Wildest Ride in the Wilderness" 3 times.) :cool1:

Glad it worked out for you. Did DS do Jedi Training? :yay:

(& where is the "separate post"....can't find it....can you link it or post the title? )
