Me and my friends are planning a trip to BCV for next year but my friend is in a wheelchair. Would this be a long trip from BCV to MK or should we look for another resort closer to MK?

No it shouldn't be a problem at all, the bus stop is not that far from the villas. And the buses are equipped to handle wheelchairs.

I'm sure you won't be sorry for selecting BCV for your trip.

ENJOY

Are you planning to visit all 4 parks or just mainly MK? If mainly MK, I would suggest BLT if you are looking for a villa.

Thank you so much. Will this be an issue for attending all the other parks?

You could wheel her to Epcot & DHS or take the boat. MK, AK, DTD, water parks would be a bus. I think it's a great location. If you stayed at BLT, you could monorail to MK & Epcot but DHS & AK would be a bus. So no matter where you stay, you will have some bus rides.

You don't say what type of accommodation you are looking for, studio, 1BR, 2BR.
If you only need a studio I would definitely not recommend BLT, the studios are extremely small and I would think difficult for someone in a wheelchair.

The advantages of BCV also include very easy access to EPCOT and DHS, by foot or boat.
I believe the buses leave BCV and go directly to MK or AK without additional stops. That's how I remember it. I could be wrong about that, and if I am someone please correct me.

As I said earlier you won't be disappointed with BCV, there is so much to do within walking distance, and so many restaurants to sample.

I'm that friend she was talking about :)

We are using my DVC and getting a 2 bedroom at BCV. I can walk around the room and such I just can't walk long distances (reason for wheelchair). I was just wondering how much walking they were going to have to do to get me wheeled around from point A to point B. I would made the thread myself but was busy doing homework. So I asked her to do it :)

Is a HA room necessary, if so, make sure you put that on your reservation.

Obviously once in the parks there will be a lot of pushing you around, but once there you could rent an ECV albeit an added expense or you could rent from one of the many off site rental companies, they will deliver it to the resort, and then you will be able to use it around the resort or to get over to the Boardwalk.
The buses are equipped to handle an ECV or wheelchair.

I have used EVCs on occasion, I too have difficulty walking long distances at times, and they are great. They are also good for carrying around any refreshments you might bring to the parks in a cooler or backpack. Something to consider.

Have a great time at BCV, it's my favorite place to be, going there in 2 weeks.

We are trying to cut costs that trip so we are just bringing my wheelchair from home. We're going to be there for 9 days and I can't see paying 15 dollars a day for a wheelchair when I have one sitting at home. :)

No, I don't need an HA. I can walk around the hotel room and such. I just can't do the long walks around the park. I have a blood clot the full length of my left leg and combine that with my cerebral palsy. Yeah, it sucks.
