Fasteest mode of transportation in WDW?

In general....is it faster to drive and park (AAA preferred parking section) from Pop Century to the various parks and from park to park or is it faster by bus and/or boat or monorail?
We don't mind the driving...just want to use our time in the most efficient way. I've been looking for a chart or calculator but no luck so far. Thanks for helping!

Having stayed at Pop Century its a bit tricky.

First of all, it can take a little while to walk to your car and get out. Then once you get to the park you have to park and walk/tram to the entrance whereas the Bus drops you off pretty close. The waits really aren't that long for the buses either. We waited probably 5-10 minutes max most times and you go straight to the park you want. No stops at other resorts or parks.

The only time I see a car as being more useful would be if you plan on doing early dining reservations for breakfast at like Chef Mickeys or the Polynesian before the parks open. We did a 7:30AM at chef mickeys and it took 80 minutes of waiting and then riding the Disney Transportation system to get there. Needless to say we were late and said we'd get a cab next time.

If you plan on just going to the parks and the restaurants at the parks you don't need a car.

Depends. 'If' you walk to the resort bus stop, just as the bus to your park is arriving, you get on and it goes directly to that park...then that is the fastest method.
But...if you get to the bus stop as your bus is just pulling away and you have to wait 15 mins for another to come??? Not so fast anymore.

Generally speaking, it is a bit quicker to drive yourself. But...I figure that I'll let Disney do the 'driving'. That way, I don't have to worry about getting turned around (which happens to me in WDW when driving), I don't have to worry about getting from my parking spot to the park..not crazy about the trams. Forgot where the car was at DHS and had to ride the tram around twice!! And then I have to get into that nice hot, sticky car and wait for it to cool down.
I just find the buses to be easier, but I'm pretty laid back when at WDW..not in a huge hurry to get anywhere.

For the first 4 years of visiting WDW and staying on site, we used WDW Transportation. The last 12 years we have rented a car. I have found that having our own transportation was better for us. Both time wise and for unwinding when leaving the parks. Even when we stay at either the BWV or BCV, I will still drive over to DHS. It's faster then the Launch Boats and faster then walking.

From our own personal preference, we find renting a vehicle better. And don't forget even at the Pop, you will have additional stops to pick up and drop off others.

We have done both and found that driving is quicker even to the MK.

Actually Pop Century is the only WDW resort that doesn't share buses with any other resort.

Saying that, we have stayed at Pop previously and have rented a car - while the car may be faster at most parks, the only one we'd suggest taking the bus to would be the Magic Kingdom. Driving to the Magic Kingdom, you have to park and take a tram to the TTC (ticket and transportation Center) then either take the monorail or ferry to the Magic Kingdom. With the bus, it drops you off right at the Magic Kingdom.

We always use the Buses......I hate having to park in the lots........wait for trams........and then the reverse on leaving the parks.........

One big problem with getting a rental is not so much just the cost, but insurance..sure your own insurance will cover a accident but it will not cover the time for repairs.....rental car agencies charge you the daily car rate while the car is being repaired.......all the time.and it could take weeks. If you buy their own incurance, which I bleieve is about $30 a day now.....that cover repair day rates.:scared1:

Is a car faster..most of the times it is faster, but for the minor amount of extra time I don't deal with having a car to worry about,costs......possible accidents.etc.

just my opinion:rolleyes:

No you don't. The Pop has it's own buses. The only time you stop at any other resorts is on the Magical Express to and from the airport.

My credit card covers that part that my own insurance does not cover
(fixing time in case of accident).

We prefer driving everywhere. If going directly to MK and back to hotel, we will often take the bus.

DRIVING! Period.

Now - it is more of a wash for the MK due to you still have to take another mode of transportation from the TTC. Might pick the bus for that.
