Does anyone know if it is still possible to use old magic bands from a previous trip that are not linked to current park tickets to get FP+ at the kiosk once you get into the park?

Yes. Other DISers are reporting MBs not directly linked to FPs can be used at the kiosks.

Doesn't it still have to be a MB that is linked to a different person than the guest trying to use it in MDE? In other words, if Pat is entering the park with a current ticket (using a new MB or card), one of Pat's old MBs in her MDE can't be used for same day FP, right?

I realize since the OP wrote "not linked to current park tickets", that essentially means it must be linked to someone other than Pat (even a "ghost" of Pat), but many people do not realize that all MBs access all the information in an individual's MDE.

Any MB listed/linked to a specific profile provides a direct link to FPs.

A current MB that is not linked to FP for a specific day, can be used for SDFP even without a ticket entitlement attached. All that is explained in ScrapYap's thread.

OP is dealing with two different MDEs.

Thanks, I understand. I just didn't see specifically in the OP's post that he or she was talking about two different MDEs, and wanted to confirm that was the case. Didn't want someone to try bringing an old MB of his or her own.

Hiro,
I believe I reached out to you for help a few months ago. As I get closer to my date I wanted to clarify. 1 MDE, 4 profiles that I have linked tickets and reservation and booked 60 day advanced FP, let's call them Mike, Mary, Moe and Mat. I purchase 4 separate MB still linked to same MDE under phantoms John, Joe, Jack and Junior. I can use the J's for SDFP correct?

Yes for the Js! :)

Question though. Do I actually need to physically swipe one of the J bands at the kiosk or can I still manage it from my main M band.

You must use the J bands at the kiosk. It's the RFID that allows the selection.

You can manage the FPs after they have been booked at a nearest kiosk and you may need to tap each of the J bands.

Got it. So I'll go to the kiosk at the start of the morning with all 4 J bands. Swipe them and set FP, and of course try and ensure that they don't overlap too much with my current M FP selections.

On our last trip we had 2 extra sets of MBs from a second MDE account. I linked an old one day ticket to one of the MBs. By doing this I was able to get FPs for one MB then reassign the ticket to another MB the night before at our resort before going to bed. I would try to overlap FPs for rides like Splash and Big Thunder. This would eliminate waiting. You may not have this convenience doing day of FPs.

Good Luck!!

Hello all... just want to tripple check this. First time going to Disney World and likely not going back for years to come... I joined simply to confirm this still works. We'll be heading to WDW in mid April (a friend is doing the Star Wars Marathon run).

Just my wife and I are going (no kids or large party)... we're just ride junkies and have never been to WDW... anyway...

Make MDE Account #1 and attach our tickets for MDE #1 (use for admission to park & to reserve FP+ 30 days out on tickets)
---use names like Micheal and Janet

Make MDE Account #2 and purchase magic bands and attach to MDE #2
--- use names like Mike and Jane

After entering the park on MDE #1 with tickets... hit up a FP+ kiosk and setup our 3 additional magic band FP+ reservations and manage them via MDE #2

Giving a total of 6 FP+ reservations for each person... plus 2 more FP+ per person after the first 3 are used on each account for the day.

Side note... this works over all parks yes? We're doing a 5 day run of the parks... can we setup 3 FP+ reservations 30 days out for each park for each day? So would have a total of 15 early FP+ reservations for each person during our stay (3 for monday, 3 for tuesday, etc)

Yes... no... maybe... am I missing anything??

Thank you for any info. :)

...and sorry, not attempting to thread hijack.... just figured I shouldn't make a new thread to ask basically the same question and to confirm things. :)

Confirming your plan for MDE #2. Alternatively, you can add "fake Mike" and "fake Jane" to MDE #1. You'll only have to access one MDE account during your park visits.

Yes, with a 5-day ticket, you will arrive at WDW with 15 pre-booked FPs for the "real" people in MDE #1.

Thank you.... but wait...

So... I can make 1 (one) MDE account and still do this just by having more "people" in the MDE account??

Mike (ticket) with 3 FP+ (30 days out)
Jane (ticket) with 3 FP+ (30 days out)
Fake Mike (Magic Band) (find kiosk and setup 3 more FP+)
Fake Jane (Magic Band) (find kiosk and setup 3 more FP+)

Interesting... which method is the safest? Sounds like managing one MDE account is at least easier. :)

What's the reason for needing two MDE accounts then? I've seen a few people online say that part is required.

It was only required before MagicBands could be purchased in the Link It Later mode. Once Link It Later became available, it was only necessary to have one MDE and as many phantoms you may know. ;)

aaah... I see. makes sense. Thank you again. :)

two final questions...

Should I buy the magic bands in "link it later mode" and then only link them after entering the park? I guess I don't know what they're linked to besides the MDE account.

Finally...

I read something about "switching" a FP+ reservation, but I didn't fully understand what the person was getting at. I'll try to explain from my understanding...

Magic Band #1 has a FP+ reservation for Ride #1
Magic Band #2 has a FP+ reservation for Ride #2

What the person implied, but I didn't exactly follow... was that you arrive to Ride #1 (I assume before your reservation time starts) and find that regular line is short (say under 15 min wait).... you then decide to ignore FP+ on ride #1 and.... copy? or transfer?... the Ride #2 FP+ reservation to Magic Band #1 so you end up with...

Magic Band #1 has a FP+ reservation for Ride #2
Magic Band #2 has a FP+ reservation for Ride #2

Mean while you wait in the regular line for Ride #1 now.

On the surface this sounds okay... but if you get to Ride #1 and it's still better to use the FP+ line... can you now transfer Magic Band #2 on the spot so a couple could ride at the same time?

Ending up with....

Magic Band #1 has a FP+ reservation for Ride #1
Magic Band #2 has a FP+ reservation for Ride #1

and now no reservation for Ride #2... good luck? lmao.

If you follow... haha. Although I'm not sure I'd do this... would it not be better to simply ride the same ride twice... once through the regular line and then the FP+ line?

Thank you again for having patience with me, ha. Last info seeking replies I promise. :)
