Fast Pass usage during 15-minute grace period

Since 3-7-12, I have tried to use Fast Pass during 15-minute grace period and...

  • I was allowed to use FP during 15-minute grace period every time I tried.

  • I was not allowed to use FP one or more times during 15-minute grace period.

Results are only viewable after voting.
I was surprised but yes. We had FPs for Mickey and princesses lat week. We got to the princesses in time but were about 11 minutes late for Mickey. We explained we were stuck in the princess line and he said he had a few minutes leeway. I was surprised since I thought it was strict.

Thanks to everyone who has voted on this poll.

Even though the numbers are small, the 25% "denied entrance" rate is large enough to convince me not to count on there being a 15-minute grace period.

That's what I wanted to know.

We did try Peter Pan 2 minutes early and were denied. I did notice the FP lines were longer for Peter Pan and Pooh but shorter for TSM.

When you say "2 minutes early" do you mean "2 minutes early" or really 13 minutes late (2 minutes prior to grace expiration)?

At this point I would just treat getting let in late as some pixie dust. By now, everybody is aware of the rules. Use the pass within your designated window. I have no problem with Disney enforcing this rule, and if by chance, you get lucky with a CM letting you in late - take it as them spreading a little pixie dust. Otherwise, you can't be upset by them enforcing their black and white rules.

Thanks for polling - I agree that until you hear of no one getting turned away that it's too risky. 25% is much too large of a percentage, and I think you have enough of a sample size here.

Actually, that's a different horse. Worries about what FP+ might be and how it will work, and arguing over the rules on the existing FP system that were not enforced but now are aren't really the same thing.

If it's a different horse, it's a stablemate. All of this is connected and relates. Each policy change has a cause and effect. Prior policy and what it accepted as current policy in other Disney parks is very important in trying to discern where they are going from here.

So is the return window pretty consistently one hour? Did it used to be longer depending on how busy the park was? Or am I thinking of the return time?

The "window" has always been one hour.

The window is the period of time (actually printed on the FP)
that you can USE the FP to enter the attraction FP line.

Where did anyone hear about a Fastpass+ system? Is a rumor or definite? And would that be similar to what they do at Six Flags? There it is a very expensive three tiered system (or was when I went about 2 years ago)

Thanks! I started reading a little, but it does not seem like anything is really known yet.

Interesting though- it would force everyone to make plans even if they aren't planners at heart. Me, I would revel in it!

and to recap those threads about the new system:

Fastpass plus = end of the world

:rotfl2:

Change is harder for some. The Disney Corporation (or whatever it is called) is a very smart one. I'm betting they will have both options- one for planners and one for the more spontaneous.

It most likely won't be in place for our October trip, so I will not worry.

Thanks!

Yes, feel free to use standby. Even after they suck 90% of the total daily ride slots out for fastpass plus. But you'll be at Disney, so it will be grand.

One more thing about the new system.

People are just guessing although some more educated and logical than others what the new system will look like based on limited testing so far.

Dont put too much stock in these doomsday predictions thus far since they are just conjecture at this point.

Some of these same people made doomsday predictions about the new FP enforcement that havent happened either.

The same number of people will be in the park with or without a FP. Nothing there changes at all. Doing it the way you have described would mean that a lot of the ardent FP users would be in the standby line instead of the FP line, but the same number of people would be in the FP line, just made up of different people. Those that were in Stand by before will now be in FP and visa-versa. It might be fun to watch actually!

DING DING DING! We have a winner!

You know, we're considering a trip to DL next year. I wonder what the record is for most late FP's used in one day........

Many by us - we collect all morning/early afternoon take a mid day nap and head be in the late afternoon/evening and use all those FPs!!! Looking forward to doing so again this October!!

Has anyone verified if you have an ADR during the FP hour, if you're allowed to use it within after your done dining, even if it's after the GP (I thought I read if you show a time-stamped receipt you can still you your FP)

Not only not verified, it is a definite "not gonna happen". You know what time your ADR is long before you get to the park. You take a FP for that time and you will very definitely lose. You might get a little time if you were delayed past your window time, but with GP that would be an hour and fifteen minutes past the window opening. That would be tough sell.
