Fast pass selection thoughts?

My son is not big on rides, he likes some that need FP+ but not all the major headliners. For him and I on those days, I book some throwaway FP+ at 9-10am or so to let them expire so that we can use the ones we want and them move on to 4th, 5th for rides he wants to redo. The one park I usually try to get all 3 FP+ earlier in the day for is EPCOT so that we can do Future World in the morning then head into the world showcase and not have to criss-cross the park for FP+. On the other hand in MK, I try not to book them in the morning so we can have them for when the park gets busier.

Great advice! Thanks!

Do any of you know how many family members can be logged on MDE app (under the same account) at the same time ? I'm guessing my husband and 2 teens will enjoy participating in the FP hunt on the app?! :)

Thanks! Do you have pretty good success securing 4th, 5th...and more FP's since you finish using your first three up so quickly? I am thinking this is the best approach for my family also. :) If we hop parks it won't be until dinner time on any given day. :)

Yes. On a summer day, we'll go through between 6 and 8 FP+ in just 5 or 6 hours...and that includes time to eat dinner and do a handful of rides that don't even need FP+. We blow through our first three within an hour or 90 minutes and then just grab one after the other. As soon as we tap into our 3rd, we jump on MDE and grab a 4th for right after. Then rinse and repeat.

I don't know what the limit is for the number of people on one MDE account...if there is a limit. I can tell you for sure it's at least 5. :D

Thank you! You answered every one of my questions ! I appreciate it! :)

I love this info! I didn't realize that I could edit my 3rd fast pass time (if an earlier time is available) after riding my 2nd FP ride?! So, if I ride my 2nd 10:00 ride and we are off the ride by 10:15, I can see if my 3rd 11:00 FP can be moved up to 10:30ish? Am I understanding this correctly? :)
Yes. But to be more clear, you do not have wait until you are off the 10AM ride. You just have to scan into the 10AM ride. As soon as you do that and before you get on the ride, you can look to move up FP #3. If you make FP #3 for something of low popularity (Nemo or Figment or I think last year there was a Pixar movie thing, for example) it is often very easy to move it up. Then you can either ride FP #3 but earlier than originally planned or just scan in and then walk. You will need to walk to that ride to do it physically. After you scan in - even if you want to ride FP #3 - you can start looking for FP #4 before you even get on the FP #3 ride.

Got it! Excellent idea:) Thank you!!

Can someone explain the point of a throwaway FP? I realize that you have to use (or at least scan in) 3 before you can make additional, but I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't make all 3 for things that you actually want to ride. Or, if there aren't 3 things that you want to ride, then why do you need 4, 5, 6, etc?

This is always one of my great debates on every trip. Typically, I make our fastpasses for later afternoon and evening. We always arrive at rope drop, so it's always felt like a bit of a waste to use them before lunch when lines are typically fairly short. I am considering the other strategy on our next trip which would be to use up all three FP as early as possible so we can make 4th, 5th, 6th, selections, etc.

In your scenario, I'd probably try to make them for 10, 11, 12, so I could then book "extras" the rest of the day.

I think this also depends what park you are in. In MK there a lot more good rides to get fp too as 4th, 5th etc that will save you a lot of time. Less so in Epcot for example

I booked a lot of morning fastpasses for my husbands first trip and my first trip since the FP+ was implemented so I was unsure of how or what to do. For the most part we didn't need any of the morning fastpasses. My husband laughed at me for worrying over fastpasses that we never used. My advice is get the hard to get one for each park when you can and then work your other 2 around that one so that you can then work on getting your 4th, 5th and so on.

I did a semi solo trip last October and didn't worry so much about FPs. When people ran at rope drop to the big rides like FOP I was going to Everest and the safari with no waits.

In a tiered park this lets you ride the tier 1 rides multiple times. I may not care to see Nemo or Figment but have to use 2 tier 2 FP's before I can keep adding more TT, Soarin', or FEA.

I think it comes up more for tiered parks for sure. Also when you spend a second day in a park. Like I mentioned Epcot earlier. If we have two Epcot days then often on the second day we dedicate more of the day to World Showcase than we did on Day 1. But we still like to add in a few key rides. Pretty much if you rope drop (RD) Epcot on Day 1 you can hit most all the rides. Except for the tier 1 rides. That you have to get lucky. So sometimes I will make a FP selection for Soarin on Day 1 (and go to Test Track at RD) then then on day 2 get a FP for FEA. But by that time we have done most of the rides already on Day 1 and do not want to repeat say Spaceship Earth or Nemo. We are really only looking to ride Tier 1 rides this day.

At MK I do cannot think of a case one would do the same. No tiering and lots of rides to choose from.

Yesterday was my 60 day FP selection day. I got most every time & ride I was hoping for and based on your suggestions, I made a few revisions to my original plan :) Can't wait...and thanks for the tips!
