Fast Pass+ Question

I'm a novelist. I am sending my characters to WDW for Xmas 2015 in my latest installment. Obviously, stuff can change between then and now, but it should be accurate at time of writing and I have not been since '12, other than a brief stop in to Animal Kingdom off a cruise ship in Feb. Does anyone know if the old Fastpass kiosks are being done away with, and can someone give me a quick overview of how Fastpass+ works?

My publisher will take care of the legal acknowledgements, and no, you haven't heard of me.

Use of the legacy (paper) FP system has been discontinued. Most (if not all) of the old paper FP machines have been removed.

It has been a few months since we went and when we went it was still in test phase, but here is how it worked for us. I logged onto MDE before our trip, selcted our fastpass+ for each day and ordered our magic bands. Once we made it to the park we used our bands to enter the park, and when it was time for our fastpass+ selection ( i set timers on the iphone so that I would not forget) we went to the ride, touched the band to the reader and went on in. At AK EE went down during our fastpass time. The CM told us to go to any ride with fastpass and we would be allowed on, he also gave us paper return tickets to use when EE opened back up.

Fastpass+ works by selecting your FPs via web, your phone using the app, or at a kiosk at the parks. Paper FP is no longer available. To use your fast pass you simply scan your Magic Band on the "Mickey Head" at the attraction.

Oh, don't I wish, but probably not before I have this one finished! And unfortunately my ability to finish and sell them impacts my ability to go to WDW. Funny, that.
