My brother and his family are staying off site for a few nights and then moving to Animal Kingdom for a few nights. They bought park tickets through Disney and they're linked to their "My Disney Experience Account". They're getting their tickets at will call and have made fast pass plus reservations. How does it work while they're off site and going to the parks? Do they use their "hard tickets" to enter the park and show them at the fast pass plus entrance??

Yes, they can use their hard tickets for entry and FP. They will also get Magic Bands in the mail about 30 days before their AK stay. They should be linked to the same MDE account and could also be used for FP or entry.

Just to further elaborate, they won't just "show" their cards, they will hold them against the Mickey head, for both park entry and FP+ entry, and the RFID chip internal to the card will activate the light the same way a magic band does. In fact, most people find the cards are a little easier, because you don't have to match Mickey to Mickey - just hold the card any old way, and it will work.

Just returned last night, had a great trip staying offsite!

They're already getting magic bands for the resort stay, they can use those the entire time if they wish, unless they not getting the bands ahead of time and are picking them up at the resort.
