Fast Pass pin- does it really work?

Tonight we were at Wilderness Lodge and a lady working the pin booth told us that if we got to the ride on our Fast pass pin (such as Soarin or Star Tours) during the time on the pin, that the cast member would let us use it as an actual FP.

IS THIS TRUE?

I'm assuming she means the series of pins that are shaped like a FastPass, such as this:

I personally have never heard of CMs allowing one to be used as an actual FP. If they can, it's news to me.

Maybe at some point there have been humorous CMs who allowed people wearing the pin to go thorough the FP line.
