Fast Pass new?

Disney is one of very few parks that have a free "virtual queue" system (Fast Pass). Universal removed there's. At Six Flags, you need to pay for there system. On top of that, most first time visitors don't research their vacation like some of us do.

Like us!! tee hee. One trip I had no clue about them. I did very little research and we "paid" for it in many ways. Not knowing about FP, until almost the end of our day in MK. We only had 2 more rides we wanted to do, so we didn't bother.

I had to stop by a bank up there the next morning, and the teller informed me she mainly goes to WDW on weekends and explained FP in great details. Now. which rides we get FP's for are included into our planning.

I see it all the time. A couple of weeks ago, a family was behind DD and I on the tram into MK. A young girl asked her mom if they could get a FP for Splash Mountain. The mom told her no. She said she'd spent enough on this trip and they could just wait in line.

As we got off the tram, I told the mom that FP is free and I explained how to get one. She just gave me a dirty look and stomped off. :confused3

I'm starting to get scared here. We leave in 2 weeks and I'm grateful to these boards for all the planning tips BUT.....I'm also freaking out at the stories of how rude and weird people can be in the parks. :confused3

Even some of the heated debates here; line cutting for example. Some of the posters were really nasty and one way in their responses. In a way, the negative stuff is kinda dulling the magic for me.

Sorry to get off topic but the more info I get the more of it is about negative stuff and I'm freakin' out! :scared: Talk me down!!!!

I don't think you need to worry. I have been a happy user of the Fast Pass since they started testing it on Space Mountain in 1998. I have never once had a nasty comment directed at me, or as least that I know of. I don't think you are going to run into too many mean people in line.

I am sure you may run into some crabby kids and parents though. :lmao:

^^^I wouldn't worry. I've gotten a few dirty looks, but nothing has ever been said and we used FPs all the time when we were there in Jan and Feb.

I'm sorry for those that did. Not very Disneylike. :confused3

We also had FP for Splash so we went there next. This time in line DH is whispering "this is so cool. I can't believe those people are actually standing in line. Suckers! Don't they know about this? Can we do this for every ride?"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just remember, not all of us in line are "suckers" - some of us are FP experts who are already holding one FP (maybe two, if available times allow!) and are queueing in a shorter line to pass the time while waiting for our "window" of opportunity! ;)

FP is a lifesaver when you have a toddler wanting to do W-T-P over and over again! :rotfl:

On our trip to WDW in November last year, we had a guy say somthing to us on the Safari ride (as well all know that line can get pretty long, pretty fast). When we came into the park, that was the first place we headed to get fastpasses. When our time came due, we walked right up the fast pass line almost to where you board. I believe the stand-by line at this point was at 60 minutes. As we were walking some guy said something to us like, why do you get to go through THAT line. I would have stopped to explain, but he just got more rude as we went, so I just smiled to myself and kept going. If people are nice and civil, I don't have a problem telling them how fastpass works, but if they get rude and obnoxious, forget it, I am not going to waste my time!! :rolleyes1

I went with someone once who thought Fast Pass was a waste of time. Couldn't wrap their head around the concept even after we used it once or twice. Oh well!!

I just wanted to throw in a comment that we have never had anyone say anything good or bad to us while we use FP's. At Disneyland Paris we saw people freaking out when all the FP's for an attraction were gone even though the standby lines for most of the attractions had a wait of maybe 5 or 10 minutes at the most. :lmao: I don't think I've ever really encountered anyone who didn't know about FP. Even Dh's parents could understand it, and they are a couple of dimwits.

is there a map of where the FP points are

The only place to get a FP for each ride is AT the ride itself.

For instance, if you want a FP to Big Thunder Mountain, you need to go to the area right in front of Big Thunder Mountain to get it.

Don't worry about it. Like anywhere else you go, it's always possible to run into a few rude, nasty people. If you come across any, just relax and ignore them and you'll have a great time. I think you can get the wrong impression by reading some of the threads here. Like anything else, it's the negative experiences (even if they are a tiny minority) that get talked about the most.

We just got back from a 2 week trip and although we did see a few rude people, it was the rare exception, not the rule.

if you're not familiar with Fast Passes - don't be afraid. The park map indicates which rides have FP (not all). Just walk right up to the entrance to the ride. Guaranteed, there will be someone working there who you can ask. They will show you exactly where the machines are. These people are there to help you. Just ask. THere are no stupid questions, and even if there are, don't worry, they've heard it ALL before. It's a great perk. karen

You woulda thunk I gave them them the winning lottery tickets.

******

I like to give away my FP if I can't use them....it's nice to spread some magic around. :thumbsup2

I happen to be one of those lucky ducks waiting in line for Buzz's SRS (60 minute standby wait) when the nicest man EVER walked by and handed me and my DBF Fastpasses and said his wife and daughter decided to go on something else. It was our very first night at MK and it was so nice to be spoiled like that!

Especially because earlier that day, in line for Stitch, I was poked nastily in the back by a woman with the longest pointiest fingernails ever, as she snarled that we had cut her off from her son twice, and proceeded to push past us, dragging her crew of 6 or 7 people with her. It's not like that's even a ride where there are limietd seats - the whole line fills the room! :furious:

So basically, you might encounter a couple rude, nasty people, but overall everyone is having a good time and trying to make the best of it. If someone snipes at ya, don't let them ruin your day - time at Disney is so precious! I kinda felt bad if I saw a crabby person, because they were wasting their time and money dwelling on the negative. Just enjoy your family and friends and let anything negative roll off yoru back!

As for FP, best thing EVER! CMs all around the ticket stations, and they were super-helpful. My ticket bent in my pocket so one day I couldn't get FPs at all, so the CMs would get them for me. Always a smile, and no snide remarks. They were great!

No need to worry, it's like any other place when it comes to rude people. There are people in the world that you would simply say, "Have a nice day," to and they'll shoot back with something rude. It happens everywhere, WDW is no different.

Even if it does happen, don't let it bother you...you're there to have fun. No point in letting one rude person bring you down. :thumbsup2

We've used FP for years and really never had an issue with people thinking we're "cutting" in line. If they don't get it, it's their loss. :)

That said, Cedar Point's version was HORRIBLE in this sense. They wouldn't put an employee where the two lines meet, only at the entrance to check your hand stamp. Then when you get to the merge, you had to fend for yourself against somebody who thought you were "cutting." It made for some hairy trips through line.
