Hi guys! Well, we're going to Disney for 10 days in January. I can't wait! But the holidays were expensive this year and with gas and electric bills sky high, we've had to cut some of our dining ideas down to size a bit. We usually do two TS meals every day -- we're cutting back to only one a day, at most, so I need recommendations for good CS meals. I don't do burgers and chicken tenders, but I've seen on allears that there are some great alternative options out there. I just don't know what's actually good and what stinks! We already love Earl of Sandwich and I REFUSE to eat McDonald's on Disney Property. Otherwise, we know very little about CS places.

So tell me your favorite fast food finds!!! Any and all advice is welcome!

Columbia Harbour House at the MK is always good. I've been going there since I was in college 20, er many, years ago. Great fish & chips, chicken, and tuna sandwiches.

We're like you, trying to economize, but staying away from "junk" food. The recommendations I got led me to plan on the following:

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons
D-MGM: Studio Catering
Animal Kingdom: Tusker House

Ak - tusker house - salmon or roast chicken - YUM!

We tried Studio catering company at MGM for the first time and had a surprisingly good lunch. FIL got chicken stew which he said was really good. I got chicken caesar wrap and DH got steak gyro. Sandwiches were small but they were both very tasty.

Also heard about a antipasto salad at Pinnochio that sounds good!

At the Magic Kingdom------Casey's Corner.........Yummy!!!

Earl's is the best, IMHO! :cool1:

Columbia Harbor House @MK
Peco Bill's @MK
Food Court @Epcot's Land - we haven't been there since the changeover, but the prices are usually pretty moderate
Starring Rolls @MGM
Pizzafari @AK
Min and Bill's @MGM
Aunt Polly's @MK
American Adventure @Epcot and Funnel cakes for a snack!!!!!
Main Street Bakery @MK
Various counter service places in Epcot besides America - Mexico, Norway, China, Japan, UK

That antipasto salad at Pinocchio's IS good! I had it without the meat, along with Figaro Fries. It was my second best meal of the trip (My first was Jiko's). Also, I agree with Tangerine Cafe. DH is a big eater, so I can never get him to share a meal. But at Tangerine Cafe we did and yet, he had plenty to eat.

For CS restaurants my favorites are:

Earl of Sandwich
Flame Tree BBQ - AK
Columbia Harbor House - MK

AK - Tusker House
MK- Columbia Harbor house
MGM - Commissary
Epcot - Tangerine Cafe, Seasons (in the Land), Fish & chips in UK
Resorts - Pop, POR, Roaring Forks,
Earl of Sandwich

Cosmic Ray's at MK has a great chicken caesar salad. We love Flame Tree at AK. At Epcot, I love the Fish & Chips stand at the UK in WS and the sandwiches at the bakery in Norway. DH loves the Bratwurst sandwich from Sommerfest at the Germany Pavilion.

MK- Columbia Harbour House
Studios- Catering Co.
Epcot-Tangerine Cafe or Fish and Chips stand in UK
AK- Flame Tree BBQ or Tusker House, both are awesome!

Tangerine Cafe, Epcot - really good food, much healthier than other choices. Also, Yakitori House is good, and Seasons looks good too.

Earl of Sandwich, Wolfgang Puck, DisneyQuest - Downtown Disney

I don't really care for most of the counter service at the MK - I'd prefer to head to Trails End at Fort Wilderness. I can't think of much I can recommend in MGM either (I'd go to the Boardwalk and get pizza). I did try the chicken curry at the commissary, and it was just - yucky.

I love the Orange Chicken Rice Bowl (my favorite) or Shanghi (sp) Chicken Bowl at the Lotus Blossom in China in Epcot. We also love Cosmic Ray's at MK because it has several different counters with different kinds of food so everyone can pick what they want. If El Pirata y el Perico is open, they used to have a great Taco Salad. I had a really good Chicken Ceasar wrap at counter service next to where the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground is at the Studio's (I'm sorry, I can't think of it's name). There are lots of other options besides burgers and chicken strips now.

I love the vegetarian platter at Tangierine Cafe!! At MK, it's the chicken wrap and burgers at Pecos Bill. I also tried the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station. Had the shrimp pad thai which I thought was good and the noodle bowls looked like something I may try next time. Always wanted to try the rotisserie chicken at Tusker House in AK. Only counter service snack I've tried at MGM was an order of fries from Fairfax Fries and a frozen lemonade from the stand next to it. I know it sounds like not such a great choice, but the salt and sour was really quite good :)

We just got back from a 5-day trip, and although we were on the meal plan (which is fabulous), we found one of the best bargains to be the Chicken and Rib platter at Cosmic Rays. While its the pricest thing on the menu, just one fed myself, DW and DS, with room to spare! Plus the ribs are some of the v=best I've ever had; and the chicken is a 1/2 roast chicken, much more filling than some chicken nuggets or whatever. ::MickeyMo

I was just over at Studios on Christmas Day and I was rather disappointed to see that Studio Catering Co. had changed its menu again to offer more traditional fast food choices. The restaurant logo now says "Flatbread Grill" but I didn't see anything on the menu that looked like a flatbread. The lamb kebabs, steak gyro, and dip sampler were conspicuously absent from the menu -- replaced by a chili cheese dog and I don't remember what else (burger perhaps?). I had the Greek salad (at least that was still there) and it was quite tasty and did come with a triangle of pita bread (ah! THERE'S the flatbread!).
At least the desserts were still intact and not yet replaced by the ubiquitous prepackaged chocolate cake/carrot cake/etc.

Wow! Thanks everyone! I had looked through allears menu list and was a little overwhelmed. I consider myself a Disney expert, but having not eaten CS very often, I had a small glimpse of how hard it can be for a newbie to plan! Now I've got a great list of recommendations and I'm really excited to try some new things!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
