Fast Food Blvd to open today

:yay:Heading there next week!!! My maiden name is Duff, so I have to get a Duff Beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

Just remember...Springfield is FAR from finished. The restaurants are pretty much done but that's about it. There is a construction wall running across from the restaurants blocking the construction of the Twirl 'n Hurl. Don't expect to see too much.

I can't wait to see the whole area finished.

And when is that going to be?

Ok, I promise you I am not complaining. I am in love with Universal and all things Springfield. But, I realized this morning that that super-duper hard coating on the fried chicken at Cletus' has chipped a little bit of dental bonding off my front tooth. I posted earlier about how hard it was to eat and that my jaw actually hurt after eating it. So, buyer beware, if you have any kind of dental work (that you would like to keep looking good) don't bite down into that chicken!! I'll be visiting the dentist when we return home to patch it.

But, I swear this isn't a complaint. We are having a blast and the Springfield expansion is a must do for any Simpsons fan. My husband is in heaven. Between the Simpsons and the Transformers he is a picture taking fool this week!!!

Make sure you let them know that the chicken isn't good. Unless people tell them, they won't fix it.

Glad to hear you guys are having a great time!!!

I was wondering about that, Damo. Who should I talk to or email my thoughts to?

since you are still there, go to guest services and talk to the TM there.

Or, if you are still there, just ask for the manager in the restaurant.

how is your tooth today Tinkie?

no pain still?

sending you loads of mummy dust that your jaw feels better soon and UO does something for you that will make you happy.........

I have to agree with AustinTink about the double batter chicken platter. The coating was so thick and hard it was really difficult to eat. And while the pieces looked really big, that was an illusion as the size was mostly due to the essentially inedible cornflake batter. My friend had the Krusty Burger and enjoyed it.

We also enjoyed some Duff beer in Moe's Tavern. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I tried the Duff Lite and enjoyed its robust flavor with minimal aftertaste. This is a light beer that I would definitely drink again. On Sunday evening, only the Duff Lite was available on draft - Duff and Duff Dry were both being served out of the bottles.

I thought about trying the Buzz Cola but because it is made with aspartame sweetened Coke Zero, I was not able to do so.

Yay! I love mummy dust!

I actually haven't been back over to Springfield since the tooth incident. Today was a Disney day and yesterday we vegged out by the pool and generally loafed around.

Heading back over tomorrow. I will talk to a tm at guest services. My tooth feels sensitive and weird. My husband doesn't want me to say anything. We'll see tomorrow.

do talk to guest services tomorrow.
show them your tooth........

you can tell them you are not complaining but want them to be aware that this could happen to others.

the restaurant, managers, universal will not know that chickie sandwich needs some tweeking on the batter.

hope the ill sensation of that tooth calms down and you feel better real soon!

mummy dust sent your way again.

Oh you poor thing! Definitely do not listen to DH, and DO go let them know about your experience with the chicken. If you made something that hurt someone's tooth, wouldn't you want them to tell you so you never did it again?

This wasn't a Universal thing, but on our last trip to Disneyland I thought I had killed a tooth when I bit down on a sandwich skewer. One of those knotted ones that looks like it is from a plant, but it's super hard. It was put diagonally into a sandwich, and I thought it was straight up and down. i was very hungry and enthusiastic about my sandwich, and whammo, I was in tears. It hurt, off and on, for 6 months; I had just had a dentist appointment before the trip, I did call the dentist about it when I got home, over a weekend, but when they called back it wasn't hurting *at that moment*. It finally calmed down just before my most recent dentist visit, and they found no evidence that it had damaged anything, but it REALLY shocked the nerves in my mouth. They weren't surprised; they had heard of that before, I guess.

So I really have empathy for you!!!!

This new stuff they are adding looks pretty neat. I've let myself sort of ignore it, mainly because I haven't watched the show in years (though I really like the ride), but it is nice that they are adding stuff! And a few of those things will be nice options for us.

There's a review up on easywdw.com, too. He says that the brewery for the Duff beers is one of his least favorite breweries, but that the Duff beers are actually good. I look forward to trying one. :)

Well, I gave guest services the heads up about what happened and Universal called my home today. I restated my story and they asked me to fax in my receipt for reimbursement. I told them that would not be necessary (more trouble than it's worth) that I just wanted to let them know the chicken was inedible. I truly think it can cause damage to other people with dental work like me.

I let them know that we were very satisfied with our trip otherwise and would be back in the future. I think the rep was actually stunned that I wasn't angry or anything. They must deal with attitudes quite a bit.

Anyhoo, it might not make a bit of difference but I spoke up and gave them my 2 cents.
