Fashion question for Hawaii trip

We will be going to Oahu for Spring Break (forgive me Mickey!) and we will be staying at an up-scale resort. I will need nice clothes for dinner, although Hawaiian casual is appropriate.

Some of my lightweight clothes look best with summer white shoes. Since it will be before Memorial Day, is it OK to wear white? Do the tropics observe different fashion rules?

Help! I want to take some of my fav clothes but also don't want to commit a fashion mistake at this fancy place.

You can wear about anything in Hawaii. If you want, you can get a Hawaiian dress here. What is the name of the place that you will be going too?

That rule is history now! A lot of designers have been incorporating white into fall and winter lines so it becomes more widely accepted, and a lot of people are following
Plus-you're in Hawaii... I'd say go for whatever looks good!

Thanks, guys! I just celebrated my 50th birthday so I guess I'm still a little bit "old school". I'm also trying to cut down on my packing by cutting out some shoes.

We will be staying at the Kahala Mandarin, which is more posh than we are, so I don't want to be out of place. Just want to blend into the background and not try to be outstanding. (DD is a different story!!!) We wanted to be on Oahu but out of the city in a secluded place. It fit the bill nicely!

I'm wondering too, Claudia, does that rule count in Hawaii? Does it really count much any more? I think white shoes would be just fine!
