Very cool for your dad. I hope he has a great time. You're a very nice daughter to be concerned for him. This may be your only chance to explain that we don't wear black knee socks with shorts, so go for it. What is it with senior men and that look anyway

I vote for nice navy golf shirt with tan dockers! A classic look and nice for this time of year! How wonderful for him~ hope it goes well!

I, also, vote for khaki slacks, loafers, and a navy blazer. A dress shirt or golf shirt would both be fine, whichever makes him more comfortable. My DS19 wears khakis and a navy blazer when he is called upon to dress up (once every couple of years ). It's a classic look.

My grandfather started dating and eventually remarried after my grandmother passed away. They were married for 50 years. It was especially hard for my mom to see him with someone else, but it was a relief to see him happy again after being so miserable and depressed during the time that he was alone.

I read once that those who are the most happily married are often the most likely to date and remarry sooner because they find it more difficult to be alone.

Nice Dockers and a button down shirt. The jacket depends on the place. Don't forget nice comfy shoes also.

When my Dad met a nice women he was very hesitant to tell me. The first thing he said was, "She's younger". I had pictures of him dating someone younger then me. Like Anna Nikole Smith or something. Well, come to find out he was 65 and she was 55. That was about 10 years ago and they're still going strong and she is still "younger"

I completely forgot to post an update to this, however the date went fine, and my father wore a sports jacket, shirt, pants and loafers. He liked the woman very much (even bought her a rose) however I think she's looking for someone younger. I guess she's very active - rides bikes and what not, and that's not really my dad's thing. I am a little disappointed for him, but i'm still glad he went. It's a little awkward for me now b/c it's through a friend of a friend, and I know my father called her once or twice since, but there is no "love connection" there.

Anyway, thanks for all the nice replies...and again, i'm glad he had a nice dinner even if that's all that will happen with this woman.
